Arc 3 Chapter 121: Scheming Lord, Cooperate a Bit (8)
"What time do you plan to return?" Number 666 asked.
"After everyone has gone to sleep at night." Luo Liyan replied without much thought.
She knew that her window of opportunity to return unnoticed would be during those late hours when everyone was resting peacefully.
But before heading back she needed to prepare some things.
Luo Liyan rushed to her dressing table and opened a small locked box. Inside were several thin silver notes and some pieces of gold and silver ingots. She decided to wrap them all in her handkerchief. Her gaze fell upon a beautiful jade pendant at the bottom of the box, a treasured heirloom of the Wei family. She hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to leave it behind. The jade pendant had sentimental value and her grandmother cherished it. She couldn't risk its loss.

Inside the pitch-black woodshed a cold and eerie wind seeped through the cracked windows emitting a faint and haunting wail. The dirty thatch covering the floor barely provided any comfort and a frail figure lay motionless looking like a lifeless corpse sending shivers down one's spine.
Weichi Che lay there unmoving gazing up at the rotting beams of the roof contemplating his imminent death.
This time, the vindictive women had truly pushed him to the brink. He had been thrown into the woodshed for days with no one even checking on him and the stench from his wounds filled the air. Occasionally, flies landed on him and he tried to swat them away but he lacked the strength even for that.
A deep sense of resentment tore at his young heart causing more pain than his physical injuries. Who could come to his rescue? He wasn't ready to die. He wasn't prepared for his life to end like this.
Desperation filled his heart but his calls for help were met only by the howling of the bitter northern wind.
Weichi Che had no idea how long he had been waiting, from hope to despair and finally to resignation. His heart grew cold as he realized that even his next life was wasting away.
He began to eagerly anticipate the moment when he would leave this world behind.
Suddenly the door of the woodshed creaked open and a young and lively figure slipped inside fanning the smell away from her nose.
"What's that smell?"
She couldn't even let him rest in peace.
Weichi Che thought bitterly.
"Who's here? Who's in here?" The young woman was startled looking around in panic. Finally, her gaze fell on the injured and unconscious Weichi Che.
She inched closer and examined him her fingers trembling. She reached out to check his breathin feeling a faint breath that brought her immense relief.
"What have they done to you? Why are you so badly injured?" Her voice was filled with concern.
