Luo Liyan perked up her ears, listening to the sounds from outside the door. After confirming that no one had discovered them, she finally let out a long sigh of relief.
"However, judging by your appearance you've been here for quite a few days. I'm a bit luckier, I was brought here just last night. When I woke up, there was no one in the room. I guess they miscalculated and I woke up earlier than they expected. That's how I managed to slip away and ended up here, luckily running into you. It seems we're fated."
"Right." Weichi Che nodded obediently. "We're really fated."
At this moment, he completely trusted Luo Liyan's explanation. He thought that she must have been out in the open and was seen by the brothel's madam who then ordered her capture. Hence, no one dared to touch her belongings.
Thinking back to his dark suspicions about her earlier, Weichi Che felt deeply ashamed. He clenched his lips into a tight line unable to meet Luo Liyan's gaze.
Seeing the future Demon Lord looking so guilty Luo Liyan found it incredibly endearing. She couldn't resist reaching out and pinching his small face eliciting an incredulous look from Weichi Che.
"You, little one why do you always have such a gloomy expression? You'll drive away all your good fortune."
Luo Liyan chuckled and hastily withdrew her hand leaving Weichi Che to think "All my good fortune is to meet you."
Though he didn't believe in such things he put on a forced smile to make Luo Liyan happy. However, his dark eyes and melancholic expression made him look eerie and unsettling which caused Luo Liyan's smile to freeze.
The future Demon Lord was truly unique. He was not only exceptionally intelligent from a young age but also had a presence about him that set him apart.
Luo Liyan decided to give up on her plans to transform him into a refined and charming young man. It seemed like an impossible task.
Weichi Che noticed Luo Liyan's shocked and worried expression but decided to act obediently. "Are you hungry? I brought a few meat buns for you but they've gotten cold..."
"It's fine. I've never known what the taste of warm meals is from childhood to now." Weichi Che said casually.
He realized that his companion had a soft heart and by acting pitiful, he might ensure that she wouldn't abandon him even after leaving this place. In fact he had never tasted meat before this and this was the first time he had ever experienced it.
"How could your parents treat you like this?" Luo Liyan couldn't believe that Weichi Che had suffered from lack of love and care his entire life. This made her set aside the lingering resentment she had for the future Demon Lord, who had injured her in the past.
People often say that those who are pitiful may also be detestable but in this case, she realized that even detestable people could be pitiable.
