Chapter 527: Giving Her Medicine

Madam Hou ignored the threats from the Second Madam and the Fourth Miss. The journey to the southwest was long, and who knew what would happen along the way? Right now, all she cared about was her daughter's well-being. Everything else was unimportant.

The members of the Shu family, however, were not willing to let it go. They believed that everyone, except Shu Yu, should be standing together. But Madam Hou had successfully won over Shu Yu.

When the Fourth Miss saw the Sixth Miss lying in the prisoner's cart, her face turned pale.

She also caught a cold, although not as severe as the Sixth Miss. Her nose was congested, and she wanted to sit in the cart to rest her feet.

Why should the Sixth Miss enjoy privileges that she couldn't?

The Fourth Miss was about to say something when the officials grew impatient. "Alright, had enough rest? If you're done, get up and let's go."

Shu Yu turned her head and looked at the official. It was the same one whom Madam Hou had seduced in the beginning.

It seemed that Madam Hou had already planned her strategy.

The members of the Shu family were bound again and followed behind the mule cart.

Today, there was no rain, and the sun became scorching hot. Shu Yu's rain cape was still placed on top of the wooden cage, blocking the glaring sunlight.

She lowered all the curtains, completely shielding herself and the Sixth Miss.

The Shu family members who followed behind glared fiercely at Madam Hou and said, "How dare you entrust the Sixth Miss to her? Haven't you seen her going mad a few days ago? Look, she has lowered all the curtains. Maybe what you'll see later is your daughter's lifeless body."

Madam Hou remained calm and kept her head lowered as she walked forward.

The Shu family members started targeting her, but fortunately, the official was by her side, ready to rebuke anyone who made a move.

After a few incidents, the Shu family members finally quieted down.

Shu Yu saw that there was no commotion outside and then looked down at the Sixth Miss.

The Sixth Miss was the same age as the Seventh Miss, eleven years old this year, but she was much thinner compared to her sister.

The prisoner's cart wasn't spacious. Shu Yu sat while the Sixth Miss lay down. It was impossible for her to fully stretch her legs, but lying diagonally was relatively comfortable.

Shu Yu reached out and touched the Sixth Miss's forehead.

Indeed, it was burning hot, clearly indicating a high fever. If this continued, even if she lay in the cart without walking, the fever could be fatal.

Shu Yu lowered her head and took out a small paper packet from her pocket.

Inside it was the cold and fever medicine that Meng Yunzheng had given her last night. Colds were contagious, and with four members of the Shu family falling ill, Meng Yunzheng was afraid that she might have caught the cold as well. He had given her this backup medicine just in case.

Shu Yu herself was in good health and had no need for the medicine.

She took it out and directly stuffed it into the Sixth Miss's mouth.

The Sixth Miss opened her swollen and reddened eyes, her mind a bit slow to react.

Shu Yu whispered, "It's medicine to treat the illness. Take it. I had the official buy it for me a few days ago, just in case."

Sitting on the front of the cart, the leading official heard Shu Yu's words, but she wasn't afraid of him listening.

The Sixth Miss hesitated for a moment, then slowly opened her mouth, taking the medicine in and swallowing it with difficulty.

After a while, her voice hoarse, she thanked, "Th-thank you."

"No need. Whether the fever goes down or not depends on you. Get some good rest. If you're not as hot later in the evening, you should be fine."

The Sixth Miss nodded. As the medicine took effect, she fell back into a drowsy sleep.
