PWDLAW Chapter 3: Past Life

 Chapter 3: Past Life

In the end, persuaded by his parents, he reluctantly sent her back to her hometown, providing her with financial support for the rest of her life.

Unexpectedly, when he opened his eyes again, he found himself back in the year of the provincial examination.

Chu Heng was in a complex mood. In his previous life this wife had tormented him into madness and he had lived his entire life enduring it. Who would have thought that he had come back again?

"Where are the fabrics I bought?" Chu Heng had suspicions brewing in his mind, a sarcastic smile playing on his lips.

"They... they were taken by Grandma." Chu Ziluo cautiously replied, looking at him.

Chu Heng's face grew colder but he refrained from getting angry at his own child.

"Go change your shoes and wake up your mother and little brother." Chu Heng said, turning to enter the kitchen. Soon, smoke emerged from the chimney, leaving Chu Ziluo in shock. Father... Father is actually cooking!

Oh no!

Father will definitely think that Mother doesn't do household chores. If she doesn't cover for Mother, when Father leaves, Mother will surely be angry. She won't let her eat a full meal, make her work, only buy meat for her little brother, and won't even...

Chu Ziluo looked down at the small wound on her palm caused by a needle. These were marks from making her own clothes and her hands had become slightly rough from long-term work. Seeing delicious food but being unable to eat it made her regret deeply. If she had known, she would have called her mother earlier.

Worried and compelled, Chu Ziluo had to turn and walk toward the adjacent room, pushing the door open and entering.

Inside, Chu Jin was sprawled on the bed, still sleeping soundly. He seemed to be dreaming, drooling as he slept, completely carefree.

"Little brother, wake up. Father asked me to call you." Chu Ziluo gently pushed Chu Jin.

Chu Jin, deeply asleep, showed no reaction.

Chu Ziluo had to summon up courage and push him again. "Little brother, wake up quickly. If you don't get up, Father will be angry."

After several pushes, Chu Jin was annoyed. Irritably, he turned over and sat up glaring at her. "Chu Ziluo, what are you doing? Can't you let people sleep peacefully?"

Chu Ziluo's slender figure had no intimidation in front of the slightly chubby Chu Jin, especially since she was trembling and very timid, with a small amount of courage.

"Father asked me to call you..."

"Father? Father is up?" Chu Jin was startled, no longer daring to shout at his sister. He quickly began to dress himself in a fluster. "Father, is Father awake?" he repeated.

Relieved that he was scared too, Chu Ziluo turned and left the room.

Standing in the courtyard, clenching her fists and summoning courage, she headed towards the main house.

Pushing open the door, Chu Ziluo saw the woman lying in bed asleep. She cautiously walked over, gently tugging at the blanket. "Mother, wake up..."

"Mother, Father asked me to call you. Father has already gone into the kitchen..." Her voice became softer as she continued, clearly trembling. "Mother, wake up quickly. If you don't wake up, Father will be angry."

When Chu Ziluo called for the second time, Ye Muyu woke up. She touched her forehead, feeling a slight fever and her head was a bit dizzy. No wonder she slept so deeply.

Thinking about her current situation, Ye Muyu hesitated for a moment but slowly sat up.

In the room, there was only her and the frail, shabbily dressed girl in front of her. She knew that this was the original owner's eldest daughter, called Ziluo, who was very sensible but had been enslaved by the original owner, burdened with all the household chores at a young age.

As for the original owner, using the excuse of poor health, she avoided doing any work. Combined with the fact that the family had already separated, Chu Heng, the male head of the family was away for a long time studying, leaving no one to manage her. Naturally, in the household the original owner's word was law.
