The wooden beauty of Young Master Sheng(6)
**Chapter 6: Did You Escape?**
He didn't plan to dwell on this topic and wanted to ask the question he cared about more.
Before he could speak, Jiang Chenchen had moved closer. Her wet hair stuck to her face, and water droplets slid down her fair skin.
She closed her eyes, and as the drops rolled down her cheeks into her collar, Sheng Mingsi couldn't comprehend why she approached him suddenly. His brows remained furrowed as he watched her. She formed a fist near her mouth and extended her tongue, pretending to lick it.
If it were anyone else, he would have thrown them out immediately. However, her expression showed no extra emotions. It seemed she only wanted to convey this simple gesture.
Suddenly, he remembered—it was the ice cream he bought her at the hospital that day.
Was she expressing gratitude for this?
Does she really have a problem with her mind?
Jiang Chenchen nodded slightly and looked at him, "Yes, who?"
Hearing this, Sheng Mingsi quickly took out the only photo of his father from his phone, passing it to her with a serious expression. "It's him. On the morning of November 2nd, you and he sat on a bench in the yard for twenty minutes. After that, he… What did he say to you?"
The car's light illuminated half of his profile, cold and gloomy. His voice gradually intensified, ending with a suppressed tone, and his gaze firmly locked onto her.
It seemed he desperately wanted to know the answer.
Jiang Chenchen's gaze shifted to the photo on the mobile phone. She nodded gently, "I was looking at the stars. He said... he also wanted to look at the stars."
Speaking a few more words seemed challenging for her.
So, she spoke very slowly.
Sheng Mingsi's eyes subtly changed, lowering them. He took back the phone and spoke in a low, cold tone, "Is that all?"
"Is that star Ah Huang?" Jiang Chenchen looked at him and said slowly, word by word, "He was crying. Kept saying sorry."
Sheng Mingsi raised his eyes to look at her, and the dark eyes seemed to be infused with ice.
He chuckled lightly, "I see."
Outside, the rain was roaring.
Sheng Mingsi turned back to the driver's seat, pulled at the collar of his clothes, lit a cigarette, and amid the swirling smoke, he fell into silence for a while. The girl in the backseat coughed a few times.
He turned around, frowned at her, and extinguished the cigarette, throwing a towel to the back seat.
"I'll take you back."
Jiang Chenchen caught the towel, stunned.
"Wipe your head."
Sheng Mingsi had enough patience for tonight.
On this early winter night, getting soaked in the rain was uncomfortable.
Jiang Chenchen obediently used the towel to dry her hair, sitting silently in the back seat.
Sheng Mingsi started the car, but suddenly turned back, frowned, and looked at her, "Did you escape from the hospital?"
Jiang Chenchen shook her head.
A flashlight shone through the window, and the car window was knocked.
Sheng Mingsi opened the window and looked at the people outside. There were quite a few of them.
His tone was icy, "What's going on?"
"A girl... Chenchen!"
Jiang Zhong was hanging on the car window and saw Jiang Chenchen in the back seat, ecstatic. His tone, however, was extremely coarse, "Chenchen, how did you get into someone else's car? What are you doing running around in this heavy rain? You're making it hard for us to find you!"
Sheng Mingsi looked visibly annoyed, coldly glancing at him, "Step aside."
Jiang Zhong, seeing that the car was expensive and the person inside exuded a cold, arrogant aura, stepped back involuntarily.
"Sorry, didn't know how my niece got into your car. She's mentally ill. I'll take her away immediately!"
Jiang Zhong quickly apologized. Zhang Lanmei was in the back seat, knocking on the window urgently, "Chenchen, come down quickly!"
