PWDLAW Chapter 1: Crossed Over

 Chapter 1: Crossed Over

Approaching six o'clock, the sky was ominously dark.

Ye Muyu had just left the company when a torrential downpour began.

It dawned on her that her car had been sent to the 4S dealership for repairs. Despite holding a high position in the company, she hadn't accepted her parents' arrangement of a dedicated driver.

She lived in a separate four-bedroom apartment.

Preferring quietness, she spent most of her time at the company and frequently went on business trips. Accustomed to independence, she rarely left work early, but today was an exception due to the heavy rain.

Ye Muyu wiped the rain off her forehead and called for a ride on her phone. Seeing that the driver would arrive soon, she opened her umbrella and decided to go to the nearby supermarket for some vegetables and fruits while waiting.

Shortly after leaving, a hurried passerby bumped into Ye Muyu, causing her umbrella to be knocked away and land on the road.

Startled, she looked up to see a little girl blocked by her fallen umbrella, unable to see the incoming Mercedes.

In a panic, she rushed over, scooped up the girl but in the moment of throwing her to safety, she felt a lightness in her own body. Suddenly, everything turned bloody-red.

She saw herself lying on the ground covered in blood, and her consciousness slowly fading. At the last moment, she realized she might have died...

"Splash, splash, splash..."

The sky was dark, rain pouring heavily, as if intending to demolish buildings.

Ye Muyu had been awake for a while. With a calm disposition, she analyzed the situation. The room had a distinct damp straw smell. The bed beneath her was hard, the quilt not soft and there was a dampness to it. Feeling it, it seemed rough resembling the fabric used by poor families in 1970s China, or possibly the low-quality material of a cheap online purchase in the 21st century.

The room was low with a small window opened on the right side near the door. The window wasn't glass, possibly cloth or paper making it non-transparent. It was already night, raining, making the room even darker.

However, the entire room was neatly arranged.

What made her uneasy was the person lying beside her.

According to her senses, it should be a man.

This made Ye Muyu hesitant to close her eyes, contemplating whether to find an excuse to get up.

In that moment of contemplation, a flood of memories suddenly surged in her mind.

Fifteen minutes later.

Ye Muyu opened her eyes, unable to contain the astonishment in her gaze. She... crossed over?

The original owner of this body was a married woman named Ye Yunlan, married to Chu Heng, the third son of the Chu family in Xingshui Village, Nanchang County.

Chu Heng was literate, and since she married into the family, she's no longer had to endure the hardships of doing the most work and getting scolded everywhere.

The Chu family split, with Chu Heng spending most of his time studying at the county school. She only needed to take care of the children and tend to the family's crops.

Especially after her health deteriorated due to childbirth.

Oh, wait, the original owner had two children.

The eldest daughter, Chu Ziluo, was eight years old and quite sensible. However, the original owner burdened her with household chores and the obedient girl never complained to Chu Heng upon his return.

There was also a five-year-old son named Chu Jin, aptly named as he was spoiled by the original owner, particularly assertive and fond of money.

Ye Muyu furrowed her eyebrows, she found this feeling quite peculiar with a sense of pressure and the unknown.
