The wooden beauty of Young Master Sheng(7)
**Chapter 7: He Didn't Smile Anymore**
"Who are you?"
Sheng Mingsi glanced at the person outside the car with a cold and direct tone.
At the same time, he took out a handkerchief and wiped the part of the car window where Jiang Zhong had just approached, showing impatience in his movements.
Jiang Zhong couldn't care less and hurriedly said, "I am her uncle, and she is my niece. She got lost after we finished eating at the restaurant in front. It took a while to find her here!"
Two security guards stood behind Jiang Zhong.
After confirming their identities, Sheng Mingsi turned his head to look at Jiang Chenchen in the back seat. "Well, that's good. No need for me to send her."
The car door was opened, and Zhang Lanmei was about to take Jiang Chenchen down. However, Jiang Zhong forcefully pushed her away and pulled Jiang Chenchen out of the car with rough and strong actions.
Sheng Mingsi's eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Seeing Jiang Chenchen stumbling out of the car, she unconsciously glanced at him.
On her fair and flawless face, those eyes were dull and lifeless, as if she were someone without any survival instincts.
Her eyes lacked light.
But just now, when he spoke to her, her thoughts were logical.
He pondered slightly.
Zhang Lanmei quickly came over to support Jiang Chenchen.
"You scared me to death, child!"
She comforted, "It's good as long as you're okay."
Sheng Mingsi watched the receding figures, dismissed his thoughts, and stepped on the gas to leave.
His phone rang, and he hadn't answered it all this time.
But the persistent call made him finally answer.
A slightly cool voice came through, "As, why haven't you answered the phone? When are you coming back? I'm waiting for you at your place. Hurry back!"
...
After the turmoil of this rainy night, both Jiang Zhong and Zhang Lanmei fell ill with high fevers and were hospitalized, but Jiang Chenchen was relatively fine.
"It's all your fault! Did you meet that big fool from the Li family and try to escape?"
Jiang Jie brought porridge for her, handed it to her, and then made a series of sarcastic remarks.
"I never cook, but now I have to cook for you. It's really troublesome!"
The person across from her had no reaction. She was as boring as punching cotton, utterly uninteresting.
Her dad had warned her to lock the door tightly and not let anyone disappear again. Therefore, after handing over the bowl, she locked the door.
Jiang Chenchen looked at the bowl of porridge in her hands. Jiang Jie didn't give her a spoon or chopsticks.
Looking at the porridge, she put it down.
She walked to the window and looked at the locked window, sitting by the window and looking outside.
After a night of heavy rain, it was sunny today.
The sunlight shone on her face through the glass window. The light made it difficult for her to open her eyes. She closed her eyes, and unintentionally fell asleep. She usually slept very little and never dreamed.
But this time, she dreamt of many things.
Memories of happy moments about her parents, all the best times before the age of six.
After that, her life seemed to lose any meaning to survive.
But before waking up, she dreamt of the boy who gave her ice cream on the street again. He smiled beautifully, and his smile was more dazzling than the summer sun.
It was the last beam of light in beautiful memories.
From then on, the light disappeared.
And the person from last night, he didn't smile anymore.
Jiang Chenchen woke up from her dream, recognizing him. Her memory was always good, even though it seemed like a very long time had passed.
...
Jiang Zhong, still worried, rushed back after he and Zhang Lanmei finished getting their shots.
When he returned home, he received a call from Li Zhenhai. The day for the two kids to register their marriage had been confirmed.
