Arc 3 Chapter 119: Scheming Lord, Cooperate a Bit (6)
"I know! You're the Grim Reaper, the Demon King and the Harbinger of Doom! But so what? I dared to come to you today. Are you not afraid that you'll come after me in the future?"
"I thought you'd be as indifferent to your adult ceremony as the rumors suggest. It turns out you're just foolish." Weichi Che said with a cold sneering tone.
His facial expression suddenly stiffened and he shifted his footing slightly.
Luo Liyan furrowed her brows watching his subtle movements. Suspicion began to creep into her heart.
"The adult ceremony is a significant event for a young woman. How can I not care about it? I came out today to ask you why you chose to confront several families yesterday, tarnishing my reputation when you knew it was my adult ceremony."
"What are you, that you think I should show you any respect?" Weichi Che found it laughable.
She was nothing more than a girl from a noble family. There was no need to go to great lengths to discipline her. If she wanted to blame someone, she should blame her foolish father, who despite knowing it was his daughter's adult ceremony acted recklessly and crossed his own boundaries.
"You..." Luo Liyan was so infuriated that her breathing became difficult.
Did he have to be so cruel?
Could anger be considered a mortal wound?
Could she apply for a protective shield for her poor little heart?
"Yesterday's adult ceremony was a joyous occasion and as an outsider, I couldn't come over to congratulate you. However, the 200 severed heads at the vegetable market and the river of blood down the street can be considered my gift to you for your adult ceremony. After all, on such significant occasions, more red is merrier, so you don't need to thank me too much." Weichi Che replied with a smirk. He didn't spare Luo Liyan another glance and turned leaving in big strides.
"Oh, no, I'm so angry my head is spinning." Luo Liyan muttered to herself and rubbed her temple.
But when she thought about the river of blood and the 200 severed heads, she felt a chilling presence around her.
Shivering, she dared not linger and quickly left the scene.
Just as she departed a black figure swiftly moved up a tree following her discreetly.
However, Luo Liyan remained completely unaware.
After laboriously scaling the high wall she cautiously lifted a partially open window, then entered.
She wiped away her shoeprints from the frame and poured herself a glass of cold tea.
"Little Six, can you be more reliable next time? There are certain taboos surrounding Weichi Che that you shouldn't cross. You should've told me earlier, I might not survive much longer!" Luo Liyan complained.
"Oops, I forgot about it. Well don't be so angry!" Number 666 consoled her appearing rather sheepish.
It couldn't really be blamed. The male leads in the previous two worlds were easier to deal with than this one and it had become accustomed to things being less demanding. A moment of negligence was normal.
"By the way, I noticed that Weichi Che seemed uncomfortable and changed his posture. Is he injured?" Luo Liyan curiously inquired.
For a stern figure like Weichi Che, he wouldn't show discomfort unless he was in considerable pain especially in her presence.
"He has a leg injury. When he couldn't participate in the imperial examination's top three due to his physical disability which was seen as detrimental to the country and the Emperor's vision he decided to abandon the civil path and focus on the military. After three years of service on the border, he gained numerous military achievements and was named the Guardian General. He only returned to the capital two years ago, following the new emperor's ascension."
"Wait, you mean he's... crippled?" Luo Liyan widened her eyes in astonishment. "But you can't tell by the way he walks!"
