"When did Xing plant those peach trees? Can you remember?" Ye Muyu wasn't very clear about past memories especially some details.
She couldn't help but try to recall, finding it somewhat hazy. She hadn't paid much attention to this before.
Ye Muyu felt a bit surprised at her current situation. However, her hands didn't stop. She had already finished tying two buns for her daughter and she selected two pink butterfly hairpins to adorn them.
Chu Ziluo grinned, saying, "Mom, I should have been four years old back then because Xing was the only one in the village planting fruit trees."
"Everyone said planting fruit trees wasted land. Only a few households had pear trees, apricot trees, and the like in front of their homes, but no one took care of them. So, when we children wanted to eat fruit, we could only go to the hillsides."
"As you say that, I remember now." Ye Muyu weirdly found that she vividly remembered those times, as if those were her own experiences. Could it be that their souls had completely merged?
Ye Muyu couldn't help but glance at the sky outside the window. There was nothing unusual and she felt fine physically. She decided not to dwell on it, she just felt much better recently.
"Mom, you've combed my hair so neatly." Chu Ziluo admired her mother, looking at the mirror where her hair was meticulously done. Sometimes, watching her mother's skillful and elegant hands, she couldn't help but think that even the wives of wealthy families wouldn't be much better.
But she quickly denied this thought. No, her mother was the best, no one could compare.
She smiled, stood up, and walked out, saying, "Mom, I'm ready. Let's go quickly."
"Yes, you go wait at the door for your brother. We'll bring Chu Jin with us later. Mom will change clothes." Ye Muyu gently instructed.
"Okay, I'll wait for you both." Chu Ziluo said loudly and she called for Nenya, who was already waiting at the courtyard gate.
The adjacent house where Chu Xing lived was still under repair. Now about two-thirds of the construction had been completed and it would probably be finished in another half month.
When Ye Muyu changed into a dark blue outfit and came out of the house, Chu Jin had already returned. Hearing about picking peaches, he quickly ran into the house, changed out of the small robe he wore for studying and put on a regular dark gray top and pants.
There was Zhang Shu at home to watch over things.
Everyone else had set out for the hillside.
Hu Shi not only brought gloves and a basket but also carried a sickle.
Ye Muyu initially thought that the sickle wouldn't be useful but when they arrived at Aunt Wu's peach grove, she saw that both the two daughters-in-law and Qian were holding sickles. Some even had machetes.
Taking these tools was because near the peach trees, there were some other plant branches.
Some of them even had thorns, making it somewhat difficult to approach the peach trees.
However, it was evident that there were already some bent branches around the peach trees, showing that people had entered a while ago.
"Aunt Wu, greetings to both sisters-in-law." Ye Muyu said.
Chu Jin and Chu Ziluo also followed to say hello.
Seeing that Ye Muyu had arrived, Qian quickly climbed down from the peach tree and walked over, crossing the thorny branches.
"Muyu, why did you come too? Don't get too close, there are tiger thorns all around. If you get pricked, it'll be very painful." Qian explained.
Ye Muyu was curious, "Why not just tidy up all these weeds and branches?"
"You can't remove them. It's to prevent those outsiders from stealing peaches. These thorns can stop some people." Qian explained.
