Chu Heng directly took the pants and the sewing basket from her hands and placed them under the desk near the window.

"Hey, I'm making clothes for you. I promised last time and now I've only done half of it." Ye Muyu felt a bit embarrassed, especially since it had been almost two months since she mentioned making clothes.

During the day, she was busy with various activities and it was only at night that she remembered she had clothes to make. Consequently, she could only do a bit every night when she remembered.

This progress was indeed slow.

Hearing that she was making clothes for him, there was a warm expression in Chu Heng's eyes. "You're doing well. Take your time. Besides, the summer clothes you made before are enough for me now."

"Moreover, in one or two months, it will be autumn, so there's no rush."

Ye Muyu twitched her mouth slightly and couldn't help muttering softly, "Is this guy mocking me?"

Well, considering that she had been working on a piece of clothing for two months without any sign of completion, it wasn't surprising that he made fun of her.

Chu Heng's smile froze for a moment and his heart was even more tangled. He didn't want to see Ye Muyu working so hard at night but he also wanted to wear the clothes she made. After weighing the options, he finally made a difficult decision.

Ye Muyu chuckled, "Just kidding. I'll do it during the day from now on."

"Really doing it during the day?"

"Of course."

"Okay, I'll be waiting to wear the new clothes you make." Chu Heng's heart was filled with anticipation. He stood up, blew out the lamp, and the two lay down side by side.

Ye Muyu fell asleep soon after.

In Chu Heng's mind, thoughts from his previous life, considerations for the upcoming imperial examination and visions of a peaceful life with Ye Muyu in the future kept surfacing. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't even realize when he fell asleep.

The weather was getting hotter.

Chu Heng woke up in the middle of the night and by the moonlight, saw that the blanket covering Ye Muyu's stomach had been lifted.

He sat up, reached for the blanket with his long arm and pulled it back to cover her abdomen.

Not minding the cold himself, Chu Heng was like a furnace. He could sleep without clothes even in the summer, feeling comfortable.

However, considering Ye Muyu's level of acceptance, he had never taken off his inner clothes during the night.

Now, having woken up in the middle of the night, he found it hard to fall back asleep.

Sitting up, he planned to take a look at the sleeping Ye Muyu. However, his gaze unintentionally landed on her smooth little feet. Chu Heng suddenly felt his emotions stir, his face darkening. He tried hard to restrain his emotional fluctuations especially the uncontrollable heartbeat.

After a while, he sighed, looked at the peacefully sleeping woman beside him and this time without holding back, gently touched her soft cheek. His eyes gleamed with a burning light, as if trying to etch her into his bones.

"You are my unexpected surprise."

Chu Heng's thin lips lightly opened, his hand gently touching the rapidly beating heart. He showed a faint smile, suddenly got up, and left the room. There was a hint of embarrassment, and he fled without a word.

On the bed, Ye Muyu was completely unaware, sleeping soundly.

Since coming here, she hadn't stayed up all night again, waking up early in the morning.
