Chapter 335: Shadows in the Heart
"Madam Ye, did Xiao Jin listen to Master Chu's lectures at home?" Lin Fuzi asked directly.
"Yes, usually my husband teaches Xiao Jin 'Youxue Qionglin.' Since he's still young and prefers stories, my husband thought that focusing on classics such as 'Thousand Character Classic' and 'Three Character Classic' during regular classes might be a bit dull. So, he chose the broader content of 'Youxue Qionglin,'" Ye Muyu explained.
"No wonder Xiaojin's favorite part during class is listening to me tell stories."
"That's a good approach. In the past, when I taught classes, it was somewhat conventional, focusing only on the content which might be a bit dull for children. Especially at their age they are prone to lose focus." Lin Fuzi commented. "I appreciate Master Chu for reminding me."
"Although Xiao Jin has been doing well in reciting his lessons recently, I think there's still a problem." Lin Fuzi continued, speaking comfortably with Ye Muyu. He genuinely cared for Chu Jin and wanted to offer sincere advice.
"This child may listen carefully to your words and Master Chu's but he completely disregards others. I'm concerned that if he loses the guidance of both of you in the future, he might become unruly."
"Being unruly isn't necessarily a bad thing but I hope he can have a more balanced mentality especially towards others. It seems like he doesn't have much emotional connection with people outside. Although he used to have good relationships with other students in the school, it seems to have changed since the last incident... when he was pushed into the river by Tang Bao. I understand that you saved him from that but I'm afraid he might have developed some aversion to making friends." Lin Fuzi expressed his worries, "Although it's not very obvious, I indeed have this feeling."
"When you return home, please talk to Xiao Jin about this. I will also provide him with guidance." Lin Fuzi added.
Ye Muyu was surprised that the usually carefree Chu Jin could have things hidden in his heart. She furrowed her brows, feeling that changing his mindset might be difficult given his straightforward nature.
"Master, rest assured. I'm aware of this matter and I'll talk to him when I get back home."
Ye Muyu hadn't expected to have unexpected gains when she initially visited Lin Fuzi. She felt fortunate that she discovered this early. Otherwise, who knows how this barrier might have changed Chu Jin.
Afterwards, they chatted for a while about Chu Jin's performance at school.
The content was simpler, such as him occasionally taking a nap during class. Lin Fuzi wasn't too concerned about this but he took the opportunity to understand why Chu Jin fell asleep during class.
It turned out that he went home every day and still had to spend time drawing.
When Ye Muyu left the school, it was already fifteen minutes later.
She didn't want to delay Lin Fuzi's time too much, considering that the children were still in class.
Outside the school, Zhang Shu had been waiting at the gate.
Seeing her come out, he quickly pulled the mule cart over.
After getting on the cart, Chu Ziluo finally spoke a bit worried, "Mom, is my brother okay?"
"There's nothing wrong. I'll ask him when we get home." Ye Muyu replied.
Ye Muyu's thought was that Chu Jin, being young might have some exaggerated thoughts but they wouldn't be too serious. It was probably because he was scared by her incident, leading to some psychological shadows regarding making friends.
Chu Ziluo reluctantly felt reassured, "Mom, is there anything I can do?"
"You, after going home, do whatever you need to do. Children don't have such complicated thoughts." Ye Muyu said, reaching out to ruffle her hair.
