Chapter 763: Full-level Boss Dressed As a Peasant Girl
Chapter 763: The Prescription Inside the Letter
Meng Yunzheng saw Shu Yu struggling to dismantle the seat, so he climbed onto the cart as well.
As soon as he got on, he caught a faint scent of blood. But this smell was mixed with other odors, as if someone intentionally tried to mask the scent of blood.
He asked Shu Yu to step aside, then exerted force with his hands and easily removed the seat next to the cart wall.
Normally, it wouldn't be so difficult to dismantle the seat, but it was because there was a person hidden inside, and that person was too large, causing the seat to bend and become rigid.
As soon as Meng Yunzheng removed the seat, he saw a person hiding underneath—a person with a tall, bent body facing away from him.
Moreover, this person was bound tightly like a zongzi (rice dumpling), with the hemp rope wrapped around him in tight coils, resembling a twisted caterpillar.
Meng Yunzheng turned his head to look at Shu Yu, and she nodded with certainty. "This is the gift I'm giving you."
She had even tied a butterfly knot on the hemp rope after securing it, just to meet the standards of a gift.
Zhao Xi, who was peering from outside the carriage, also saw the person. His eyes widened, and he asked in a low voice, "Who is this?"
Shu Yu reached out to flip the person over, but Meng Yunzheng was quicker. "Let me do it. You get off the cart first."
Shu Yu jumped down.
The lighting inside the carriage was not very bright, so Meng Yunzheng simply dragged the person out of the cart.
He dragged the person to the position of the cart shaft, revealing his face. Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi fell silent simultaneously.
Then, both of them looked at Shu Yu with expressions of disbelief on their faces.
Shu Yu smiled. "First, let's bring him inside, and then I'll explain."
Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi lifted Cheng Dong and carried him inside. They closed the door of the main hall and tied Cheng Dong to a chair. Then they turned to Shu Yu, looking at her with puzzled expressions.
Shu Yu proceeded to explain what had happened with Cheng Dong when she planned to visit the Hou family outside the city.
After hearing her account, Meng Yunzheng's face slightly changed. "Did he harm you in any way?"
He examined her from head to toe, afraid that she might have been injured by Cheng Dong but hadn't mentioned it.
Shu Yu shook her head. "How could I let myself get hurt? At that time, Cheng Dong was desperate for someone's help, and coincidentally, my identity was suitable. The person who wanted to please prefect Cheng through him had to deceive me and keep me around to help him with his tasks."
Meng Yunzheng was relieved once he confirmed that she hadn't been harmed.
Zhao Xi burst into laughter. "Cheng Dong's luck is truly terrible. Of all the people he could encounter, he ended up meeting you. Others might not be aware if he's good or bad, but you, you know more than Cheng Daren himself."
He sympathetically looked at the person bound up like a ball and thought to himself that it was probably better to fall into Cheng Daren's hands than into Shu Yu's.
Look, he had even been sent out as a gift.
"Oh, by the way, I haven't had a chance to read the letter he gave me." Shu Yu took out the letter from her pocket. "Here, take a look. What does it say inside?"
Meng Yunzheng opened the letter and took out the paper inside.
However, after reading it for a while, he frowned. Shu Yu noticed his expression and hurriedly asked, "What's wrong?"
Meng Yunzheng handed her the letter, and after reading it, she also furrowed her brows. "No wonder he was so confident in giving me this letter. It's a prescription."
Clearly, it was a sealed letter, and only the intended recipient would be able to decipher the specific contents.
