He gently covered her with a blanket, then held her in his arms and closed his eyes for a moment. Later, he kissed her lips softly, without any emotions or desires, and embraced her completely. The room was quiet, and a sigh could be heard.
The next day, Qin Ruan woke up and found that Hou Yirong had already left, and Hou Yunjiao was nowhere to be seen. She learned from Hou Qiang that there was a remote international meeting for HEA Group today. Qin Ruan didn't want to disturb him, so she stayed in the living room, surfing the internet near the fireplace.
Around ten in the morning, she received a call from Qiao Nanyuan. He informed her that Ling Feng and Lan An had arrived in the capital city and were just off the expressway. Qin Ruan, not wanting to go out in the snowy weather, asked Qiao Nanyuan to bring them directly to Xiangxi Manor.
After hanging up the call, she went upstairs. Hou Qiang was guarding the study room and informed her that she could go in directly. She told him that she had something to discuss with Hou Yunjiao.
Entering the study room, Qin Ruan saw Hou Yunjiao sitting at the desk. He had a deep and handsome face, and with the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, he exuded an elegant and scholarly aura. His usual elegant and gentle appearance was rarely seen, and now, she could sense a strong oppressive aura emanating from him.
Approaching Hou Yunjiao, she told him that she wanted to meet some friends and asked if it was okay for them to come to the manor. Hou Yunjiao replied that it was fine and reassured her that she didn't need to report every little thing to him.
She left the study room, and Hou Yunjiao followed her to remind her to call her family since she hadn't been in touch with them for a few days. She promised to do so and went downstairs to meet Qiao Nanyuan, Ling Feng, and Lan An.
In the meantime, the video conference continued in the study room. Hou Yunjiao, as the leader of the new generation of the Hou family, showed his authority and power during the meeting, especially after learning about the significant losses caused by a recent incident in their properties in Fulu Country. He ordered everyone to spare no effort in recovering the lost research data and experimental materials, regardless of the cost.
Back downstairs, Qiao Nanyuan, Ling Feng, and Lan An were brought in by the guards. Qin Ruan thanked Qiao Nanyuan for his help and exchanged greetings with Ling Feng and Lan An. She noticed a sense of familiarity from Lan An, but she was sure they had never met before. Qin Ruan then invited them to the guest room, and they all sat down for tea.
Ling Feng and Lan An didn't touch the tea, and they seemed distant. Qin Ruan sat facing them, holding two pieces of dry wood and playing with them. She felt a peculiar connection with Lan An, who was like a modern person, through Ling Feng.
