Chapter 157: You Are Not In Exile You Are Clearly Traveling!

  Chapter 157: Humiliation (Seeking Support)

"I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't have what you're looking for."

Zhang Yiquan lay on the snowy ground, bruised and battered. He had been beaten severely, this time without the protective padding his wife had previously used when she hit him. The men showed no mercy, leaving Zhang Yiquan barely alive. Despite the beating, he still didn't know what they were after.

"I told you, if it were something important, he wouldn't give it up easily. We should search him directly to see if he has it."

"Right."

The men realized this and cursed themselves for being distracted by the cold. They began to search Zhang Yiquan.

"Let me go! What are you doing? Help! Help!"

Zhang Yiquan struggled and screamed, but the men covered his mouth, muffling his cries. They started stripping his clothes, and he fought back desperately, only to be overpowered.

"I'll give it to you! I'll give it to you!" he finally managed to shout.

The men sneered. "Too late!"

Desperate, Zhang Yiquan watched helplessly as they continued to strip him. They found a bunch of silver notes, which surprised them. They hadn’t expected him to have so much money hidden. However, their focus wasn't on the money.

"Where's the item?" they demanded. "Where did you hide it?"

Zhang Yiquan tried to retrieve his clothes, but one of the men kicked them away.

"You..."

Zhang Yiquan's face turned red with humiliation and anger. As a high-ranking official, he had never been so degraded. The cold was unbearable, and he shivered violently.

"If you have the guts, kill me!" he challenged, closing his eyes and bracing for the end.

The men looked furious. "You think we won't kill you?"

One of them suggested, "Maybe he hid it with someone else, like his wife."

The others agreed, smiling grimly. Even if the item wasn't with her, they could use her to pressure Zhang Yiquan.

"No!"

Zhang Yiquan, who had been waiting for death, panicked when he heard this. "Stop! Leave them out of this!"

"Hand over the item, and we will leave. It's good for both of us."

"I really..."

Before Zhang Yiquan could finish, they turned to leave, convinced he was lying.

"I... I'll give it to you!"

He finally yielded, stopping them in their tracks. They turned back, but he added, "There's only one of it. How will you share it among yourselves?"

They hesitated, realizing the truth in his words. They knew there was only one elixir, and no one would agree to split it.

Some of the men showed signs of considering killing each other to take it all. The tension rose, with everyone ready to attack.

Zhang Yiquan saw an opportunity. As they argued, he began to put his clothes back on, hoping to escape. The men noticed his movements.

"Calm down, everyone. Let's not fall for his tricks."

They grudgingly agreed, deciding to discuss how to share the elixir before continuing.

"That's enough! If we keep arguing, someone else will take it."

"Besides, he's getting away!"

They spotted Zhang Yiquan trying to flee and quickly chased him down.

"Help..."

Zhang Yiquan limped away, crying for help. But injured, he couldn't outrun them and was soon caught and beaten again.

"Bring his wife here!" one of them ordered.

Several men left to fetch her. Zhang Yiquan screamed, "No! The elixir is hidden! It's not on them!"

"Is that so?" One man squatted beside him, slapping his face. "Tell us where, or you know what we'll do."

Zhang Yiquan was terrified. He didn't have the elixir and had no idea what they were talking about. He had overheard their conversation and still didn't understand what they wanted.

Soon, they dragged his son over. Seeing him, Zhang Yiquan's heart broke.

"I'll kill you!"

But he was no match for them. They kicked him down and pressed his son's face into the snow.

"If you don't talk, your son dies," one of them threatened, grinning evilly.
