Chapter 126: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

Chapter 126: Rising Bloodlust

When Qi Wangfei spoke, the children let out a soft cheer and began to eat.

The fish noodles had been served, filling the table with a light fragrance that made them hard to resist.

Although the roasted suckling pig slices and stir-fried lamb were more visually enticing, the children found their eyes often drifting back to the fish noodles right in front of them.

Feng Xuanrui decided to eat the noodles first, feeling an inexplicable urge to try them before indulging in the meat.

He lowered his head and elegantly took big bites of the noodles.

Suisui was also trying the noodles for the first time and didn’t know what to expect. To her surprise, they had a delightful fish flavor and were smooth and fragrant.

Each bite left her wanting more.

With a satisfied smile, she turned to Qi Wangfei and said softly, “Mother, this is delicious.”

Qi Wangfei wasn’t in a hurry to eat. Instead, she watched her daughter closely. Seeing Suisui's bright eyes, she nodded with a smile. “Then eat more so you can grow tall, but don’t overeat—there’s roasted lamb and braised venison too, all very tasty.”

To be honest, these rich dishes weren't Qi Wangfei's preference, yet she felt her mouth watering as she spoke.

She tried a piece of the roasted lamb but found it too greasy for her taste. Though well-prepared, the richness overwhelmed her.

After just one bite, she set it aside.

Suisui, upon hearing her mother’s words, obediently nodded and, with a determined look, began to eat the tender lamb that her aunt offered.

The flavor was delightful, and the spices were just right, leaving her wanting more.

As she enjoyed the meal, Suisui couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness she hadn’t known before. Her eyes sparkled, and her little feet couldn’t help but bounce under the table.

Her life was so much better now.

But memories of her past would occasionally creep in, bringing a shiver down her spine. She pushed those thoughts away, not wanting her mother or brothers to worry.

However, being a child, she struggled to hide her emotions.

Qi Wangfei noticed Suisui's small body trembling slightly. Instinctively, she reached out, only for Suisui to flinch away, making Qi Wangfei's heart ache.

Was this the shadow left by her past punishments?

She couldn’t help but feel anger toward those who had mistreated Suisui.

How could that family, who had wronged such a sweet child, even have the right to her?

Trying to calm her own feelings, Qi Wangfei took a deep breath. “Would you like to try the stir-fried lamb? It’s really good, and there’s also braised venison.”

Hearing her mother’s gentle voice snapped Suisui back to the present.

She thought to herself: the past is the past; now is now.

She didn’t have to be afraid anymore.

She had her mother and brothers.

She had a family!

With that reassuring thought, she looked at her mother and sweetly said, “I want to eat lamb.”

Suisui didn’t quite differentiate between the different types of meat yet; she just thought they were all delicious.

As long as her mother was serving, it would be perfect.

Qi Wangfei’s heart softened further, and she lovingly helped Suisui with her food, watching her enjoy the fish noodles.

Once Suisui had her fill, she let out a cute little burp, and Qi Wangfei finally felt relieved.

Because of her anger towards those who had wronged Suisui, she had lost her appetite and only nibbled at her food, merely going through the motions.

After dinner, the children played around a bit to digest their meal.

Qi Wangfei allowed them to be, even when Feng Xuanrui and Feng Xuanbin began to wrestle again, rolling around and refusing to let go of each other.

In the middle of their chaos, Suisui eagerly pulled on Feng Xuanrui's hair, but when she worried about hurting him, she quickly let go and tugged at his hair tie instead.

With the tie gone, Feng Xuanbin’s hair fell loose.

Feng Xuanrui noticed and cackled mischievously, “Haha, long-haired monster, here I come!”

Feng Xuanbin’s eyes widened in fear, but they were too entangled to escape: “Ah, don’t come over!”

Suisui, seeing her brother in a precarious position, straightened up proudly, hands on her hips, enjoying the scene.

Watching the children play, Qi Wangfei felt her heart lighten.

She thought: Suisui had suffered so much in the past. How could they simply let it go?

That wouldn’t be fair at all!
