Chapter 129: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives
**Chapter 129: She's Her Sister, Really!**
The candies in Liu Hemeng's hand were handmade by Physician Liu himself, infused with tangerine peel juice.
The candy wrappers were crafted by her mother during her free time.
The system admired the beautifully wrapped candies, thinking, *Human ingenuity truly knows no bounds!*
Liu Hemeng usually had only three candies a day, but today she handed all three to Suisui, placing them in her soft little hands: “Sister, take these. They're delicious tangerine peel malt candies, really sweet! I’m giving them all to you, but remember to eat just a little each day. If you eat too much, your teeth will go bad, and then you won’t have any left, okay?”
Teeth were very important.
Moreover, this was something her fifth and seventh brothers had told Suisui, and she remembered it well.
When the big-eyed sister said this, Suisui eagerly nodded: “I know, sister.”
The little girl was very obedient, just calling her “sister” without adding the “Mengmeng.”
Liu Hemeng's eyes turned into crescent moons at Suisui's response.
Noticing that Suisui didn't even have a pouch, Liu Hemeng decided to give her own: “This is for you too, sister. We can tie it around our waists and keep small things in it.”
Though Suisui didn’t understand much about these things, she had learned recently from Lele not to ask for things casually.
So, faced with the enthusiastic Liu Hemeng, Suisui didn’t know how to refuse and could only look helplessly at her mother.
Exchanging small gifts among children was completely normal.
And it wasn’t anything particularly precious; it was the thought that counted.
Thus, Qi Wangfei smiled and encouraged Suisui: “It's a gift from your sister. Just accept it, and later you can give her a nice gift in return. How about that?”
Whether for adults or children, mutual exchanges were essential for lasting friendships.
Qi Wangfei thought that although the children were small, they still needed to learn the rules and etiquette of giving and receiving.
You couldn’t overly spoil a child just because they were young.
Spoiling a child is like harming them.
Qi Wangfei kept this lesson in mind.
Listening to her mother, and recalling the gifts given by her elder brother Ronglin and elder sister Ruoyi during their visit to Qingzhou and Wenzhou, Suisui remembered that there had been return gifts prepared by Grandpa Liu.
So when someone gave her a gift, she also needed to reciprocate.
Lele had mentioned that this was a form of etiquette.
Thinking about this, Suisui confidently accepted the pouch and candies from Liu Hemeng.
After a moment of thought, she took off a jade bracelet she had just put on that morning and shyly offered it to Liu Hemeng: “Sister, this is for you.”
Her mother had said that gifts should be reciprocated.
Suisui couldn’t think of anything else she could give.
The bracelet looked quite valuable.
Though it wasn’t originally hers, her mother had said that it would be hers in the future and that no one could take it away.
Suisui thought, since it was hers, she could decide what to do with it, right?
Uncertain, she glanced at her mother, meeting her gentle smile, which reassured her.
She thought her mother wouldn’t mind.
Liu Hemeng didn’t expect her sister to give her a gift as well.
Physician Liu's family wasn’t poor, and Liu Hemeng’s aunt was a consort, so she had seen her fair share of good things.
This jade bracelet was of fine quality and could be either kept or not, but because it was from Suisui, Liu Hemeng treasured it and examined it closely before happily saying, “Thank you, Suisui! I really like it!”
Hearing her sister say she liked it, Suisui finally felt relieved.
The little girl let out a long breath, looking both cute and a bit childish.
Seeing this, Liu Hemeng couldn’t help but smile.
The bracelet fit Suisui perfectly, but it was a bit small for Liu Hemeng.
Suisui was much smaller and skinnier than an average five-year-old.
Liu Hemeng, who usually ate well and exercised a lot, appeared larger than most seven-year-olds since her birthday was in February.
Naturally, she couldn’t wear that bracelet.
However, the little girl was very sensible and didn’t complain about not being able to wear it; instead, she cherished it and put it away carefully.
Since there was no pouch on her, Liu Hemeng decided to ask her grandfather to keep the bracelet safe: “Grandfather, could you please take care of this for me? Make sure you give it back to me when we get home!”
Physician Liu chuckled in response.
The two little girls were getting to know each other, and Liu Hemeng wanted to introduce Suisui to some herbs.
Physician Liu didn’t rush to examine Suisui’s pulse; he allowed the two children to play for a while before finally checking her pulse.
Afterward, he didn’t say much, only vaguely mentioned, “She needs to eat more; she’s still too thin.”
Qi Wangfei glanced at him with concern, receiving a reassuring look from Physician Liu, which made her feel a bit more at ease.
It was likely just that she hadn’t had enough nourishment before.
With that, Qi Wangfei could finally relax a bit.
After diagnosing Suisui, Physician Liu prescribed a few herbal tonics. Qi Wangfei passed the prescriptions to aunt Qiu and was about to arrange for the two girls to play when Aunt Qiu came in to say that the Grand Princess and her entourage were almost there.
The arrival was quite significant, and the doorman had been keeping watch, ready to inform them so that the family could prepare to receive their guests promptly.
Since they were elders, Qi Wangfei tidied up quickly and gently explained to Suisui: “Mother has to go greet the elder. You stay here and play with your sister, okay?”
Suisui was very attached to Qi Wangfei.
Qi Wangfei feared that leaving suddenly would make Suisui feel abandoned, as children who hadn’t received much love often feared being left behind again.
Qi Wangfei didn’t want Suisui to feel too scared, so she made sure to clarify things before parting.
Although the elder seemed stern, the lively sister from earlier was very nice and was willing to play with her.
Suisui wanted to join them but remembered what Lele had said: sometimes, adults had things to do that weren’t convenient for children to accompany them.
Suisui understood.
Her mother was going to handle something that wouldn’t be suitable for her to join.
Though feeling a bit down, Suisui accepted this reality and nodded obediently: “Mother, I understand.”
Seeing how mature Suisui was, Qi Wangfei felt a pang in her heart.
However, since the Grand Princess was an elder, she didn’t want to disregard royal etiquette.
Thus, she exchanged a few words with Physician Liu before hurrying out.
Liu Hemeng had originally planned to take Suisui to play with bamboo leaf dragonflies.
Upon hearing that the Grand Princess was coming, Liu Hemeng turned and lightly rested her chin on Suisui’s shoulder, not putting any weight on it, and whispered, “Has Ying Qiaoqiao arrived yet?”
