Chapter 154: You Are Not In Exile You Are Clearly Traveling!

Chapter 154: Searching for the Culprit

The prisoners were shocked to see Chen Xue and her family approaching. They had thought Chen Xue’s family was lost forever, but here they were, alive and well, looking completely unharmed. It was unbelievable.

Ignoring the puzzled stares, Xu Tian noticed they had no carriage and quickly arranged one for them. Chen Xue's family accepted, not wanting to reveal their hidden carriage from the space in front of everyone.

Once Chen Xue’s family boarded the carriage, the crowd began to discuss animatedly, curious about how they had survived. They put themselves in the family's position and felt even more hopeless, believing they couldn't have made it.

Their amazement grew. Their previously shaken faith, due to Zhang Yiquan's doubts, solidified again. If surviving such a disaster didn’t prove Chen Xue was a celestial being, what could?

They had seen the Chen family buried under endless snow and now watched them emerge alive. The memory of the vanishing snow, initially thought to be a natural phenomenon, was now seen as Chen Xue's doing.

The vast snow covering the valley disappeared before their eyes. This wasn’t something an ordinary person could accomplish.

Zhang Yiquan, too, was convinced now. Previously, he might have dismissed the eclipse as coincidence, but the disappearing snow couldn’t be explained away.

Even if coincidences happened, this wasn’t one of them. Thus, Zhang Yiquan regretted his actions deeply. He decided to lay low for a while and temporarily put aside his grudge if they survived this crisis.

"Do you remember the shout we heard before the avalanche?" Chen Xue asked her parents. Master Chen nodded, "Of course."

Chen Xue had mentioned before that loud noises could trigger avalanches. So, he understood her implication.

"Do you think someone shouted on purpose?" Master Chen frowned, "But how could anyone else know what would trigger an avalanche…"

"That’s true!" Chen Xue was puzzled too. It seemed too coincidental.

"Could someone have been injured and screamed, causing it unintentionally?" Madam Chen speculated.

"I don’t think so…" Chen Xue recalled the shout didn’t sound like a scream of pain. It was forceful, not the desperate cry of an injured person.

"Ask Xu Tian to investigate and see if anyone knows anything."

They decided to have Xu Tian look into it since they were too far from the group to know what had happened.

Upon learning someone might have tried to harm Master Chen, Xu Tian was furious. He vowed, "Don’t worry, Master Chen. I will find out who did this!"

"We haven’t confirmed it was intentional. It could have been an accident. We mustn’t falsely accuse anyone."

"I understand!"

After the avalanche, the group moved faster, wary of another disaster. They walked cautiously, often glancing around as if expecting the snow to come crashing down.

They spoke in hushed tones, fearing loud voices might trigger another avalanche. They had heard the rumor, or perhaps it was more than a rumor, that loud noises could cause avalanches. The incident seemed to confirm this.

Learning that someone might have deliberately caused the avalanche to harm Master Chen, they were both shocked and angry. They too had nearly been killed.

They recalled hearing a shout but hadn’t seen who it was. Many joined Xu Tian in searching for the culprit, motivated by their own safety and a desire for justice.

Without identifying Zhang Yiquan, their efforts were fruitless. Zhang Yiquan had hidden well, and the noise of the avalanche had distracted everyone from his actions.

Xu Tian searched for days but found nothing. He felt guilty for failing Master Chen’s task. Chen Xue didn’t blame him, instead suggesting they spread the word that there would be a reward for any information.

She also announced that she knew who the person was and urged them to confess, warning of severe consequences if she had to take action herself.

This frightened many, but since none of them were guilty, they didn’t feel constantly anxious. Instead, they looked forward to seeing Chen Xue take action.

Zhang Yiquan was startled by Chen Xue’s threat. He knew her capabilities but believed she was bluffing. If she really knew it was him, she would have confronted him directly.

Still, he didn’t confess, hoping to escape detection. However, he couldn’t sleep, plagued by nightmares.

Days passed without Chen Xue acting, and Zhang Yiquan felt relieved, thinking he had outsmarted her. He even began to doubt her celestial nature. If she were truly divine, how could she not find him?

Chen Xue’s bluff usually worked, but Zhang Yiquan was too cunning.

"What should we do?" Madam Chen worried, "If no one confesses, it will damage your reputation as a celestial being."

Since the prisoners believed Chen Xue was a celestial, the family had gone along with it. Now, it seemed they had created a trap for themselves. If they couldn’t identify the culprit, the prisoners might doubt her divine powers.
