Chapter 113: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

Chapter 113: Finding a Companion for Study

After thinking for a long time, Aunt Qiu actually came up with someone suitable.

She gently clapped her hands: "Wangfei thought of someone, but I don't know if it's appropriate."

Seeing she had a candidate, Qi Wangfei nodded for her to continue.

Aunt Qiu quickly spoke up: "It's the granddaughter of Physician Liu. That girl is lively and would be perfect to keep our eldest daughter company."

This suggestion reminded Qi Wangfei of the little girl. She had met her a few times and heard Physician Liu mention her. Although she was more mischievous than the boys, she had a good temperament and could look after the timid Suisui.

The girl was seven years old, slightly older than Suisui, and could help care for her child. The only question was whether Physician Liu would agree.

If he were an ordinary doctor, having his child enter the royal academy would surely bring him honor. However, the relationships surrounding Physician Liu’s family were quite complex.

At first, Qi Wangfei thought Aunt Qiu's suggestion was good, but she hesitated. It wasn’t until Suisui approached her, looking up and hugging her leg, that Qi Wangfei made her decision.

No matter if the other party was willing or not, it was worth asking. Giving up without inquiring wasn't a good habit. Qi Wangfei thought that as a parent, she needed to set a good example.

Once she realized this, Qi Wangfei felt a great sense of relief. She bent down to pick up Suisui and, noticing the little girl looked a bit low-spirited, worriedly reached out to touch her head. "Why do you look so tired? Are you sick?"

Feeling her forehead was normal, Suisui shook her head obediently: "Mother, I'm not sick."

She sounded a bit guilty saying this. Qi Wangfei noticed but didn’t press further, thinking that the child might have some secret she didn’t want to reveal.

At that moment, Feng Xuanrui and the others burst in, their hands not empty. They had prepared some gifts for Suisui to celebrate her.

Among children, they didn’t need anything extravagant. It was either toys or snacks.

Qi Wangfei usually let the children enjoy themselves without interfering.

Feng Xuanrui was the first to rush in, holding a large box, running as fast as he could: "Sister, I’m here!"

Qingshan and Qingshui followed closely behind, panting heavily.

Feng Xuancang walked leisurely at the back, while Feng Xuanjie raced alongside him. Feng Xuanbo and Feng Xuanbin were in a competitive scramble for second place.

Suisui was still in Qi Wangfei’s arms when the boys surrounded her, and she felt a little lost as they took her away. However, watching them play joyfully together brought her happiness.

Seeing Suisui looking tired moments before, it was reassuring to see her smile while playing with her brothers.

Not quite satisfied, Qi Wangfei signaled Aunt Qiu to invite Physician Liu over and also to inquire about letting his granddaughter come as a study companion.

Feng Xuanrui brought in a box of toys, Feng Xuanbin held a small box of snacks, and Feng Xuanbo had a box of fragrant rouge.

Looking at the colorful box, Qi Wangfei’s brow furrowed. She hoped that Feng Xuanbo had asked his mother for this, and hadn’t just snuck it out.

Feng Xuanjie prepared a hand-carved little horse he had stayed up late to make last night. Although it was handmade, it couldn’t compare to Feng Xuancang’s obvious skill.

Feng Xuancang didn’t compete with his brothers, knowing he was older and couldn’t gift a toy, so he brought a beautiful jade pendant instead.

The pendant was made of green jade, not top-tier quality but still decent, cool to the touch and transparent.

Suisui seemed to really like it. It was small enough to hang on her clothing, perfect for her age.

Feng Xuancang gently helped Suisui put it on, adjusting her clothes.

Feeling pleased with the attention, Suisui did a little twirl and sweetly thanked him: "Thank you, Third Brother, I really like it."

Her soft voice warmed the hearts of those around her.

Feng Xuancang thought: Having a sister feels really nice. No wonder Father is so keen on this.

He liked it! He would want to have a daughter in the future!

He’d spoil her and pamper her!

Unfortunately, he was still young and couldn’t foresee that possibility, so for now, he would just spoil his little sister.

Having come to this conclusion, Feng Xuancang gently hugged Suisui: "Third Brother also likes our lovely and soft Suisui."

Blushing at the compliment and hug, Suisui shyly pursed her lips, her cheeks reddening.

Feng Xuanbin, noticing he was falling behind, squeezed his way in and grinned: "I want a hug too!"

He stretched out his little chubby hands and hugged Suisui, laughing with delight.

Most of the brothers brought toys and snacks, but only the older Feng Xuancang gifted a jade pendant, which Suisui could wear directly.

The other brothers quickly caught on and were determined to outdo him the next day.

Feng Xuancang, however, paid them no mind and led Suisui off to the dining table to feed her.

Seeing his prize taken, Feng Xuanrui couldn’t help but complain: "Third Brother, I haven’t even had the chance to be fed by you!"

Feng Xuancang glanced at him: "Are you as cute as Suisui?"

Feng Xuanrui: …

That question was a trap!

After a frustrated huff, Feng Xuanrui had no choice but to sulk.

The children’s cheerful chatter broke the sleepy spell over Suisui.

After eating, the brothers went to class while Qi Wangfei took Suisui to the small garden to see the flowers.

The weather was still cool, and many flowers hadn’t bloomed yet.

However, some hardy varieties were lush and vibrant, looking quite interesting.

As Qi Wangfei pointed out various flowers to Suisui, explaining what they were and when they bloomed, Suisui started to feel sleepy.

By the time Qi Wangfei realized, Suisui had already snuggled up on her shoulder, sound asleep, making Qi Wangfei chuckle helplessly: "This child."

Thinking it was just the adjustment to a new environment causing her sleepiness, Qi Wangfei carefully carried her inside and tucked her into bed, making sure she was warm before quietly leaving.

In her dreams, Suisui was still rolling coal balls.

"Seven parts coal, three parts clay, mix them together."

"What about the machine?"

"The pedal, right?"

"Yes, yes, the pedal."

...

In her dreams, Suisui seemed to be busy, murmuring: "Yes, yes, roll them like this."

"This way they’ll burn well."

...

Her sleep-talking was muffled.

Aunt Qiu, not feeling at ease, perked up her ears to listen carefully.

After a while, she couldn’t make sense of it and decided to laugh it off, getting back to her tasks.

She was preparing to sew a little hat for Suisui.

Since the little girl didn’t have much hair, she was often chilly in the wind, which could lead to headaches over time.

The hats from Jinxiu Village hadn’t been finished yet, so Aunt Qiu asked for some soft fabric scraps to quickly sew a temporary one for Suisui.
