Chapter 89: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

  **Chapter 89: Suisui's Flower**

After Aunt Qiu came in, she first updated Qi Wangfei on the progress of inviting Aunt Chi to the residence. Aunt Qiu had already sent Shaoyao to the estate to make the arrangements.

Aunt Chi had previously taught the Prince, and due to her seniority and experience, she held a certain status in the Qi family. Qi Wangfei's intention to invite her was also to put Concubine Su in her place, reminding her of her position.

Aunt Chi was currently outside the city and would need some time to arrive.

Qi Wangfei nodded in acknowledgment. “I understand,” she said, then decided to ask Aunt Qiu to invite Physician Liu over.

Though Suisui’s hair hadn’t grown in yet, there was nothing to prevent her from wearing other accessories. Qi Wangfei wanted to get Suisui’s ears pierced, but since she wasn’t skilled in this, she needed Physician Liu to advise whether it was best to do it now or wait until Suisui was older. Proper care was necessary to avoid infection after the piercing.

Before Qi Wangfei could speak, Aunt Qiu brought up another matter. “Yesterday, the potted plants brought back by the Sixth Young Master and Miss only have buds and haven’t grown any shoots. I asked the steward from the estate, who said it might be due to insufficient warmth. If possible, we could move them to the estate’s greenhouse. Once they grow taller and the weather outside is suitable, they can be planted in the garden. What do you think?”

The steward had already gone back to his duties, so if they wanted to send the plants, another person would need to be dispatched.

Qi Wangfei was initially going to suggest just sending someone to take care of it. However, she noticed the little girl nestled in her arms stirring.

Suisui, having heard that it was about her flowers, blinked her eyes wide and asked softly, “Mother, are those my flowers?”

Her soft, childish voice warmed Qi Wangfei’s heart.

The words Qi Wangfei had intended to say were forgotten as she replied, “Yes, they are Suisui’s flowers. Would you like to come with me to the estate to see them?”

The matter of returning to her parental home and discussing it with her brother could wait. Spending time with her daughter was more important.

Suisui didn’t understand what the estate was or where it was. She only asked, “Will my brothers come too?”

Qi Wangfei considered taking Feng Xuanrui along but was concerned about the interruption to his studies. She didn’t want him falling behind or losing interest in school.

So she shook her head and said, “Your brothers will still be attending their lessons, but this afternoon we’ll be able to see them. They’ll be at the estate for archery and horseback riding lessons.”

Hearing that she would see her brothers in the afternoon made Suisui happy, and she nodded enthusiastically.

Her little head bobbed up and down, brushing against Qi Wangfei’s neck. The soft tickling sensation made Qi Wangfei smile, and she gently stroked Suisui’s head before picking her up to head out.

Before leaving, Qi Wangfei called over the steward, Uncle Li. “If there are any matters at the residence, you can ask the two side concubines. For urgent issues, you can come to the estate or the other residence to find me.”

After a moment’s thought, she added, “Better come to the estate to find me. Don’t disturb the Prince.”

Uncle Li hurriedly acknowledged the instructions.

Princess Qi quickly prepared to leave, taking Suisui with her in the royal carriage to the estate.

The carriage was luxurious and spacious, a true reflection of the royal family’s status. Suisui marveled at its opulence and nestled close to her mother, concerned she might roll around in the large space.

Qi Wangfei enjoyed having Suisui close and would have preferred to hold her the entire time, but her stamina was limited.

She began to consider whether she should also join physical training to improve her fitness.

The side concubines only learned of Qi Wangfei’s departure after a while.

Concubine Ren, who was picking out her clothes for the day, hastily instructed her maid Xianglan, “We need to hurry and leave as well. If something happens, I can’t handle it.”

The maids hurriedly prepared, and Concubine Ren left shortly after Qi Wangfei.

Concubine Ren’s departure was soon known to Concubine Meng, who was having her hair styled. Upon hearing the news, she gritted her teeth, “She’s gone again, leaving me to deal with everything!”

With the Prince and Princess both absent, Concubine Meng couldn’t afford to leave as well.

Frustrated, she asked, “I heard that Zhou Shi visited the Princess last night and fell ill afterward?”

Her maid, Shuxiang, replied softly, “That’s what I’ve heard.”

Concubine Meng was puzzled. “That shouldn’t be the case. The Princess is usually very kind. What could have happened to make her fall ill?”

Suisui, oblivious to the palace intrigue, was enjoying the outing. She had bought many snacks along the way.

Many of the treats were unfamiliar to her, and although she wasn’t hungry, she delighted in their presence.

Previously, such treats were out of reach, but now they were within her grasp. It felt almost unreal.

Occasionally, Suisui would gently touch the wrappers, savoring the new experience.

Seeing Suisui’s excitement, Qi Wangfei’s expression softened even more. “Suisui, you can open them if you want to eat. Don’t be afraid. I bought them for you.”

Suisui shook her head. “Mother, I’m not hungry.”

Qi Wangfei didn’t insist, gently patting her head. “If you’re hungry, we’ll open them. If you finish, I’ll buy more.”

Suisui obediently nodded and stopped poking at the snacks, instead quietly looking out the window at the passing scenery.
