Chapter 152: You Are Not In Exile You Are Clearly Traveling!

Chapter 152: Trapped in the Snow

Master Chen and the others were deeply saddened, but then they heard a voice behind them.

Turning around, they saw Chen Xue appear in the space.

"Xiao Xue!"

Madam Chen and the others were overjoyed, quickly getting up and rushing to Chen Xue, holding her tightly.

"I thought…"

Madam Chen choked up, "If something happened to you… how would I live?"

"Mother!"

Seeing her mother so distraught, Chen Xue felt deeply guilty and hugged her tightly.

"I'm fine, Mother. You know I have this space…"

"As long as you're okay, as long as you're okay!" Master Chen stood nearby, visibly relieved, with red eyes, clearly very worried as well.

"Miss…"

Xiao Die was crying, looking at Chen Xue with a pitiful expression, pouting, "Miss, I want a hug too!"

Chen Xue, amused and touched, knew Xiao Die was genuinely worried and gave her a hug.

"Don't do this again," Master Chen said with lingering fear. "Even if your father isn't as capable as you, I can't let you face danger alone."

"Father, I understand."

Chen Xue knew her father’s concern and did not argue.

"When you came in, what was the situation outside?" Master Chen asked, still worried.

"I don't know about the others, but we're in danger." Chen Xue looked troubled as she explained their current predicament.

While she had the space, she couldn't move it.

In other words, she would exit at the same location she entered.

The problem was, that spot was now buried under snow. Given the avalanche, they were probably buried several meters deep.

This meant that if she exited, she would be buried under meters of snow, not on the surface.

"This…"

Hearing this, Master Chen and the others looked grim. This meant they could only stay in the space.

But could they really live in the space forever?

First, there was the issue of food. While the space had enough supplies for several decades, it was just enough to prevent starvation, not to live comfortably.

The second issue was the monotony and isolation of the space. Could they endure a lifetime without contact with the outside world, even with family around?

So, if they didn't want to be trapped in the space forever, they had to find a way out.

Getting out was simple, but getting through several meters of snow was very difficult.

The easiest solution was to dig a tunnel to the surface.

However, the snow was freshly fallen and not solid. Digging might cause surrounding snow to collapse.

It might even trigger another avalanche.

They thought of many solutions but dismissed them all.

Finally, they decided to rest for the night.

At least wait until the snow compacted before digging to reduce the risk of collapse. They could also think of better solutions during the night.

Though they were in the space, the terrifying avalanche scene was still vivid in their minds.

Their hearts were still pounding, unable to calm down.

For all these reasons, they decided to take it slow.

Chen Xue even suggested having hotpot to calm their nerves.

The spicy food made everyone sweat and numbed their senses, distracting them from the terror of the avalanche.

The next morning, they felt calmer.

Master Chen and Chen Xue discussed and decided to dig a bit to see how far they were from the surface.

Chen Xue took Master Chen out of the space into a dark area.

She took out a flashlight to illuminate the surroundings.

Master Chen saw that they were surrounded by dark iron plates, with a protruding rock above.

Chen Xue explained, "I had anticipated an avalanche, so I prepared for it…"

Chen Xue had seen a protruding rock under a slope and had rushed to it, surrounding herself with thick iron plates from the system.

She had created a fortress of sorts, preventing the avalanche from burying her completely.

However, in her haste, she hadn't positioned the iron plates perfectly, and she had neither the strength nor the time to adjust them.

So, there were gaps between the plates.

Fortunately, these gaps were small, about the width of a finger, otherwise, a lot of snow would have squeezed in.

Chen Xue took out a thin bamboo pole and tried to poke through the gap to test the depth of the snow.

But she couldn't push it in.

This made Chen Xue's face very grim. She sighed, recalling many reports about avalanches.

People buried under snow rarely escaped without external help.

Chen Xue thought of Xu Tian and the others outside but felt disheartened. This wasn't like the past where they could use phones to call for help.

If she could tell Xu Tian and the others her location, they might dig her out.

But now, Xu Tian and the others probably thought she was dead and might have already left.

"Forget it, let's see if there are other ways."

The best solution would be to get help from above, but she couldn't contact anyone outside.

So, she had to think of another way.

With iron plates around, the snow was blocked. To dig through the snow, she would have to remove the plates. But removing them would cause snow to flood in, burying her for sure.

That would be certain death.

This method wouldn't work either.

Chen Xue grew frustrated.

"Stay calm, there must be another way."

Master Chen reassured her, his face resolute, "I will get you, your mother, and everyone else out of here."

Outside.

Or rather, on the snow-covered ground above Chen Xue.

The exiled group was packing up. According to their agreement, today they would leave.

Many were excited.

Among them were Kuang Wei and Zhang Yiquan.

But Xu Tian and the others were worried. Last night, Zhao Guang and Xu Tian had continued searching in the snow, but found no trace of Master Chen, not even a clue.

They were starting to feel desperate.

Under pressure from Kuang Wei and others, Xu Tian hesitated and turned around.

"I'll stay and keep searching!"

Zhao Guang's voice was hoarse, his face exhausted. Clearly, he hadn't rested well but didn't want to give up.

"What's the use of staying? Some things are already decided." Kuang Wei sneered, already displeased with Zhao Guang.

Initially, they had been allies, but Zhao Guang had switched sides, supporting Master Chen. This betrayal angered Kuang Wei.

So, he looked at Xu Tian.

"Xu Tian, think carefully. You are the leader. You are responsible not just for one person, but for the entire group, these hundreds of people."

Xu Tian opened his mouth, then turned to the prisoners. Seeing their expressions, he closed his eyes briefly, then opened them with determination.

"Zhao Guang, let's go. These people need us!"
