Chapter 143: You Are Not In Exile You Are Clearly Traveling!

Chapter 143: Light at the End of the Tunnel

Suddenly, a loud cry echoed above the crowd's heads, prompting them to instinctively look up, only to be met with a face full of wind and snow.

"Enough!"

Chen Xue took out a megaphone and shouted at the crowd, "If you want to live, shut up."

Hearing this, and seeing Chen Xue's slightly angry expression, the crowd quieted down almost immediately. They soon began to process what she had said. Did she actually have a solution?

"There's a cave 500 meters ahead. If you want to survive, head there quickly!" Chen Xue wasn't lying. Xiao Qing had indeed found a cave ahead, for which she was very grateful. Otherwise, she wouldn't have known what to do. While she was reluctant to bring everyone into her space, she couldn't bear to watch them die in front of her. Xiao Qing's timely discovery provided a much-needed solution.

The crowd, stunned at first, quickly became overjoyed. They trusted Chen Xue, having witnessed her abilities firsthand. The sound they had heard earlier likely came from Xiao Qing, who must have found the cave and informed Chen Xue. This filled everyone with renewed hope and energy, propelling them to run towards the cave. They understood that the cave might not accommodate everyone, so it was crucial to get there first.

Chen Xue and her family followed behind. She preferred not to crowd into the cave with everyone else and would use her space as a last resort. Thus, she instructed her servants to head to the cave first. However, the guards refused to leave her side, committed to their duty even at the risk of death.

The 500-meter distance was quickly covered. The first ones to reach the cave were met with a warm breeze, causing them to shiver with relief.

"So comfortable!" they couldn't help but exclaim, looking around in astonishment at the large, deep cave. As more people arrived, they moved deeper inside, finding that the cave was even more spacious than expected.

Chen Xue's group soon arrived and, to their surprise, found the cave big enough to accommodate their carriages. Upon entering, they noticed it was much larger inside than it appeared from the outside.

"Master, Madam, Miss!" a few of the Chen family's servants ran over, breathless. "This cave is huge inside, like another world. Everyone else has gone further in."

Intrigued, Chen Xue's group ventured further and discovered a vast, open space within the cave. The ceiling was about ten meters high, and the floor was large enough to hold several hundred people without feeling crowded. Chen Xue estimated it was at least the size of a football field, if not larger.

Despite the cave's rocky ceiling blocking the view of the sky and the blizzard, it was not dark. Light filtered in through numerous small openings, illuminating the cave.

Chen Xue's group found a spot to park their carriages and used them to create a barrier, ensuring their privacy.

"Finally safe!" everyone sighed in relief, grateful to Chen Xue for their survival. Many approached the Chen family, kneeling in gratitude.

Chen Xue's father, Chen Da, had grown accustomed to this and knew how to handle it. "Just remember our Miss's kindness in your hearts. Do not disturb her rest; she has been working tirelessly for your sake."

Hearing this, the crowd, filled with gratitude, quickly retreated, afraid to trouble Chen Xue any further.

"You doubted the immortal's abilities?" they turned to the ones who had badmouthed the Chen family earlier.

"Yeah, if not for her, you'd be buried in snow by now."

"Instead of being grateful, you doubted her. How disgraceful!"

"Mind your business!" the accused men snapped back angrily. "Who are you to criticize us?"

"Just calling you out. You ungrateful wretches don't deserve her help."

"You want a fight?"

"Who wants a fight?"

"Ungrateful dogs! Should've told the immortal not to save you."

"Yeah!"

A brawl ensued, but the guards, hearing the commotion, turned away, pretending not to notice. The angry shouts and cries for help were ignored, even by other prisoners who simply shook their heads or cursed under their breath.

The few remaining guards quickened their pace, seeking refuge in a corner and feigning sleep. Other prisoners muttered, "Serves them right!"
