Chapter 344: Enemies Reunite on a Narrow Road (6)

At this critical moment, Da Hongzao reacted swiftly. It leaned to the side, narrowly avoiding a direct collision with the other carriage.

Despite its evasion, due to the high speed of the oncoming carriage, the two carriages still collided heavily, abruptly coming to a halt.

Mo Yan was fortunate; her carriage was not moving fast, so she didn't fall off. The two young ones inside the carriage just lifted slightly from their seats.

The other carriage wasn't as lucky. Because of its high speed, not only did the coachman fall off, but there were also successive screams from inside, indicating that someone had fallen. It sounded like a group of female passengers.

"Damn it, Old Wang, how can you drive like this? Are you trying to kill me?"

The carriage door was flung open violently, and a somewhat disheveled young girl emerged. Without a second thought, she slapped the coachman who was just getting up to apologize, making a crisp sound.

"Sorry, miss, it's this slave's incompetence. Please spare me this time, I won't dare again!"

The coachman hurriedly kowtowed on the ground, not even caring about his swollen face.

"Hmph, admitting your uselessness now? When we return today, I'll have my father sell you!" The young girl seemed difficult to reason with, threatening to sell off the coachman who had been driving for her family for over a decade.

Upon hearing this threat, the coachman's face paled. He banged his head on the ground repeatedly, pleading for mercy. Given his age and skills limited to handling carriages, being sold off could lead to a desperate situation. He couldn't help but resent the carriage that collided with his own.

Seeing that the other carriage hadn't moved yet, the coachman grasped at a lifeline, quickly shifting blame to Mo Yan's carriage: "Miss, it's not the slave's fault. It was that carriage, that carriage suddenly rushed out. The slave couldn't avoid it and collided, causing you distress. Please investigate, Miss!"

The young girl realized that her carriage had collided with another only after hearing the coachman's attempt to shift blame. She jumped down from her carriage and saw the entangled carriages for herself, cursing loudly, "Who? Who has such a lack of eyesight to dare collide with my carriage?"

As she moved towards the back of the carriage, her two maidservants who served her also dismounted quickly and followed. Through a crack in the door, Mo Yan could vaguely see a well-dressed woman sitting inside.

Upon hearing the coachman's attempt to shift blame, Mo Yan knew trouble was brewing. Upon hearing the young girl's curses, she couldn't help but sigh. She had actually wanted to leave after the accident, knowing full well she bore no responsibility. However, the axles of her carriage were entangled with the other's, making it impossible to move.

Now, Mo Yan couldn't leave even if she wanted to. She comforted the restless young ones inside her carriage, advising them not to get out. As she was about to disembark herself, someone had already approached her.

She raised her head and froze as she recognized the person before her.

Chen Shanshan also froze for a moment, then furrowed her brows and cursed, "So it's you, you bumpkin! You were the one who bumped into me last time, and now you've bumped into my carriage again. You're a disaster, always clashing with me!"

Being insulted for no reason, Mo Yan, who usually had a good temper, lost her patience with this kind of person: "Whether I'm a disaster has nothing to do with you. Your carriage damaged mine. Shouldn't you compensate for the damage first?"

"What?" Chen Shanshan screamed, pointing at Mo Yan's nose and shouting, "I see you must have the guts of a bear and the heart of a leopard. Clearly, it was you and your horse that had no eyesight and collided with my carriage. How dare you ask me for compensation?"

Mo Yan brushed away her hand dismissively and replied calmly, "The street was bustling with people, yet your carriage was speeding so recklessly. If it weren't for my horse's quick reaction to evade, who knows what could have happened. If you don't believe me, you can ask these bystanders who witnessed the incident and determine who's at fault."

"Even if my carriage collided with yours first, so what?" Chen Shanshan arrogantly stared at Mo Yan, speaking unreasonably. In her view, even if her carriage had collided with another, it was not her fault. Therefore, she couldn't be bothered to ask bystanders who couldn't even afford a carriage. She turned her attack on Mo Yan once more:

"Your shabby carriage wouldn't have appeared here if it weren't for my carriage. Now that I'm scared, it's your fault, bumpkin. You'd better kneel down and apologize to me right away, or you won't leave here!"

Mo Yan couldn't bear to look at Chen Shanshan's unreasonable behavior. How thick-skinned must she be to say such things? Did she think the sun revolved around her?

"Kneel down and apologize? Besides kneeling to the heavens, the earth, and my parents, I won't kneel to anyone else! If this young lady really wants me to kneel and apologize, then you should die first!"

Mo Yan said without reservation, paying no attention to how distorted Chen Shanshan's face became. She politely asked the bystanders who were watching the commotion for help: "Uncles, please help. Our carriages are stuck together, could you please help separate them? Thank you very much."

With that, she bowed to them gratefully.

"Little girl, that's easy. Uncle will help you!" A burly middle-aged man with a fiery temper responded first, calling on others, "Everyone, come and help. If we don't separate these carriages, they'll block the road for everyone."

"All right, count me in!" Someone stepped forward immediately, and soon more than ten young and strong individuals appeared, ready to assist in moving the two carriages.

Most of the bystanders were eager to help and understood that Mo Yan was not at fault in this dispute. Though they refrained from speaking out against the wealthy, they inwardly disdained Chen Shanshan's lack of manners.

Ignoring Chen Shanshan's murderous gaze, Mo Yan continued to express her gratitude to the bystanders, which lessened her annoyance at being unjustly scolded.

Chen Shanshan stared at Mo Yan, infuriated beyond measure, but couldn't find an excuse to continue causing trouble. Seeing the bystanders move her carriage, she erupted in curses, "Who allowed you lowly commoners to touch my carriage? Get away!"

"Damn it, did you eat crap for breakfast to be this abusive to people?"

Being called "commoners" while helping incited the bystanders, who angrily stopped what they were doing to chastise Chen Shanshan.

The burly man had a fiery temper and a sharp tongue: "You're dressed like a young lady from a wealthy family, but all you do is call people 'commoners' and 'bumpkins.' Compared to a real young lady, even an ordinary girl wouldn't lack manners like you! You must have been picked up by your parents; if you were really theirs, they wouldn't let you come out and embarrass yourself like this!"

"You're the bastard picked up by your parents!" Chen Shanshan's eyes turned red with anger. She swung her hand to slap the burly man but was intercepted by a hand from the side.

"Shanshan, don't make a scene."
