Chapter 154: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives
### Chapter 154: Little Ones Are Easily Satisfied
When Qi Wangfei heard that the worm-filled gift box had also been given to Concubine Ren, her pupils shook with shock!
Concubine Ren was known for her delicate nature, many complaints, and sharp tongue. If she got scared, who knows how she might blame Suisui in return?
It wasn’t that Qi Wangfei couldn't manage her; it was just that she found her too annoying, and she usually didn't bother much since there were no significant disputes between them. But if Concubine Ren truly decided to make a fuss over something as trivial as this…
Qi Wangfei looked down at Suisui, who was currently looking up with a face full of anticipation, clearly hoping for praise. The little girl looked incredibly adorable, making anyone want to reach out and pat her head.
Qi Wangfei thought, sometimes the thought counts more than the gift itself. And with such an adorable little child, who could bear to make a fuss? If Concubine Ren really made a scene, well, she was still here to protect Suisui.
Thinking this through, Qi Wangfei waved her hand dismissively and directed Suisui and Feng Xuanrui to go wash their hands. The other princes would be back soon, and it was time for dinner.
Children don’t usually find worms frightening; in fact, they often think of them as unique little creatures. Feng Xuanrui had once gifted a toad to his mother when he was younger, just because he found it interesting. Now that the worms were a gift from his sister, he happily kept them.
Knowing it wasn’t good to play with the worms with dirty hands, Feng Xuanrui carefully put the worm into his pocket.
Qi Wangfei: …! Help! Little Six, you really haven’t changed at all!
She turned her head, refusing to look any further, afraid that if she did, she might find it hard to breathe.
She tried to comfort herself: he’s just a child. What can you do? At this age, everything is fascinating to them; they want to touch and keep everything. Playing with a worm isn’t such a big deal.
This sense of calm didn’t last long, though, because after dinner, Suisui handed out the remaining four gift boxes to her other brothers.
Each of the brothers reacted differently upon receiving the boxes, but none wanted to look cowardly in front of the others. So, even if they were nervous, they put on a brave face, especially when Suisui’s eager, expectant gaze was upon them.
After dinner, the children gathered around, comparing the worms to see whose was the biggest, which was the most active, and which had the nicest color.
Qi Wangfei: …! She could feel her breath catching again. She just didn’t understand the joy of these children. All she wanted now was to escape!
Suisui was delighted to see that her brothers loved her gifts. She watched them intently, then softly said, “I’ll catch more for you tomorrow! There are lots in Mother’s garden!”
Feng Xuanjie: ??? Save me! When he was little, he was unafraid because he didn’t know any better. But now that he was older, he knew fear.
Standing next to them, Feng Xuancang sighed and gently patted Suisui’s head. “Suisui, we can’t catch them all. Worm droppings are great fertilizer; they help flowers grow. If we catch too many, Mother’s flowers won’t grow well.”
Suisui didn’t understand any of this at first. Hearing this explanation, she looked stunned. Oh no, Mother’s flowers might die! That wasn’t her intention at all.
Seeing Suisui’s dazed look, Feng Xuancang patted her head softly. “Don’t worry. You didn’t catch them all today. There will be more worms, and they’ll reproduce. The flowers won’t be affected. But we shouldn’t keep catching them every day. Let’s find something else to play with tomorrow, okay?”
After hearing this, Suisui nodded quickly. “Okay, Third Brother, I’ll listen to you.”
Since Feng Xuancang was the oldest and knew the most, she trusted his words completely.
Feng Xuanrui and the others were having the time of their lives, completely unafraid.
Why fear? If not restrained, they’d probably try playing with snakes next.
To them, these little creatures were just fun; what harm could there be?
Qi Wangfei: …!
Realizing that worms had their uses, Feng Xuancang and Feng Xuanjie eventually persuaded the other children to reluctantly return the worms to the garden.
Not wanting Suisui to feel down, Feng Xuancang gently stroked her head on the way back. “We all received your gifts today, Suisui, but gifts should go where they can be most useful, don’t you think?”
Suisui didn’t feel sad at all because they had played with her gift for quite a while after dinner. Each of her brothers genuinely enjoyed it.
Hearing what Feng Xuancang said, Suisui nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, gifts should be put to their best use!”
Though she didn’t fully grasp the meaning, she trusted her older brothers, knowing their words made sense.
Feng Xuanjie felt guilty for not being brave enough to appreciate his sister’s gift fully, and he thought of making it up to her. As they walked back, he turned to Suisui and asked, “Do you like peach blossoms? Fourth Brother will carve one for you. You can put it in a vase.”
After thinking for a moment, he corrected himself. “No, no, I’ll carve one with a pot. You can put it beside your bed.”
Perhaps with some incense, it could help her sleep better!
Suisui clapped her hands joyfully. “Thank you, Fourth Brother.”
Not wanting to be outdone, Feng Xuanrui, though lacking in crafting skills, proudly offered, “Anything else you like? I’ll buy it for you!”
What did she like? Suisui had no clue. She felt happy now that she was loved, fed, and clothed. What more could she want?
She shook her head sincerely, smiling. “I’m happy with everything I have now, Brother. There’s nothing else I want.”
In a child’s simple world, once their needs were met, they found contentment easily. Suisui had already received everything she had ever wished for and saw no reason to ask for more.
