Chapter 65: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

  Chapter 65: Potatoes

Physician Liu’s affectionate attitude and gentle voice greatly reassured Suisui.

Feng Xuanrui, on the other hand, was pointing out the flaws in the bracelet. “The craftsmanship is average, and the design is outdated. It’s barely acceptable. Don’t worry about it, sister. When we return to the capital, I’ll get you something much better!”

His remarks were a bit disagreeable. However, Physician Liu felt that comforting Suisui at this moment was the right thing to do. Smiling, he continued, “You have your brother, and you have Grandfather Liu and Uncle Prince Qing who care for you. When we get back to the capital, there will be many more people who will care for you and give you gifts. We’ll get used to it in time.”

Feng Xuanrui nodded in agreement. “Yes, yes, and we also have six fools at our place. If they don’t give you gifts when we return, I’ll kill them down with this dagger!”

Hearing the word “kill,” Suisui’s face turned pale with fear. Seeing her reaction, Feng Xuanrui quickly clarified, “I meant fighting, not actually killing. We’re not enemies!”

Even though they were siblings, and despite some differences in their mothers, it wasn’t something to get serious about. They had no deep grudge.

Suisui thought fighting wasn’t good, but she also agreed with her brother. After some hesitation, she simply nodded in agreement.

Prince Qing had finished organizing things and, after checking the time, said solemnly, “Although we left a bit late, we’ll definitely reach the city before dark.”

Nanquiao County wasn’t far from Wenzhou City. Physician Liu estimated the time and decided it was time to set off. With good weather, they could also enjoy the scenery along the way.

They arrived in Wenzhou City just as dusk was falling. The sunset bathed the city in a warm, reddish glow, giving it a beautiful, frosty charm.

When Suisui got out of the carriage, she was greeted by this stunning view. Unable to hold back, she exclaimed, “Wow~”

Feng Xuanrui, accustomed to such sights, mimicked his sister’s awe, “Wow wow~~~”

He found that stopping to admire the scenery revealed its true beauty. He wanted to compose a poem to express his feelings but only managed to come up with two words: “Really beautiful!”

Prince Qing, overhearing this, frowned slightly and said, “When we get back to the capital, you should focus on your studies.”

Feng Xuanrui, chastened, listened attentively. Suisui, filled with envy, admired her brother’s scholarly status, thinking that only the elder son of a village head would have such privileges. Her brother was really impressive!

Since it wasn’t too late, Physician Liu and Prince Qing decided to take the children out to a local restaurant for dinner. Wenzhou City had many unique delicacies.

After finding and confirming a good inn, they proceeded to the nearest restaurant.

Initially, they planned to dine in a private room on the second floor. However, while walking on the first floor, Suisui suddenly had a peculiar feeling—a deep longing and anticipation, something like what Lele had described.

She tugged on Feng Xuanrui’s hand and nervously asked, “Brother, can we sit there?”

Suisui was pointing to a table near the cashier’s desk, where four men dressed as traveling merchants were seated.

Prince Qing was indifferent, Feng Xuanrui was slightly disdainful, and Physician Liu had some reservations. However, seeing Suisui’s rare display of courage, Physician Liu thought outright refusal might discourage her.

He glanced at Prince Qing, who shrugged, signaling indifference. Physician Liu then waved his hand and instructed the attendant, “That table, please.”

The attendant cheerfully guided them to the table.

The attendants had already formed their own group and seated themselves nearby.

Suisui watched the four men with curiosity. They were burly, bearded, and had a weathered appearance.

At first, Suisui hesitated to look directly. But the mysterious feeling inside her urged her to take a peek.

She thought it wouldn’t hurt to look just once. She found it was fine and dared to look again.

And again.

Eventually, she made eye contact with one of the burly men. Suisui, startled, instinctively hid behind Feng Xuanrui.

Feng Xuanrui thought the men might be teasing Suisui and gave them a fierce look.

The four men, who had been frowning and drinking, noticed the little girl’s curious gaze but were not offended. They were seasoned traders with keen observation skills and recognized that Feng Xuanrui was from a wealthy family.

They were not bothered by the child’s curiosity.

After giving a few stern glances, Feng Xuanrui gently patted Suisui’s back and comforted her, “Don’t be afraid, sister. I’m here.”

Those four words reassured Suisui. Remembering Lele’s advice, she peeked at the men again.

They resumed their drinking and paid no more attention to the curious children.

Suisui’s gaze eventually settled on a bag near one of the men’s legs. The mysterious feeling she had reached its peak.

She thought, at that moment, the one thing she wanted most was that bag.

Or rather, what was inside the bag.

Suisui didn’t dare to speak up and only expressed her desire to the system.

“Lele, I want that bag!”

The system, following Suisui’s direction, checked the bag and then chuckled.

Potatoes!

The bag was filled with potatoes, some of which were already spoiled. However, there was still a good portion that could be salvaged!

Currently, potatoes were not available in the Daxia Dynasty. Such a high-yield crop would be a significant benefit to Daxia!

After realizing this, the system encouraged Suisui gently.

“Suisui, be brave!”

“Say what you want boldly. Only then can your brother or Grandfather Liu know!”

Suisui, usually timid, was encouraged by Lele’s words. She hesitated, taking deep breaths, but still couldn’t bring herself to speak.

Feng Xuanrui was busy setting up the tableware for his sister, believing that raising a sister required meticulous care. He felt he was making daily progress.

Physician Liu, noticing Suisui’s hesitation, leaned in and gently asked, “Suisui, what’s the matter? Is there something you want to eat? Just say it!”
