Chapter 58: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

  Chapter 58: Expand Your Horizons

Prince Qing was feeling somewhat speechless. He hadn’t said a word, but why did everyone look at him with such a judgmental gaze?

Feng Xuanrui used to be quite the little troublemaker, often indulged by his mother. Otherwise, his mischievous antics might have led to more serious consequences. So now, with his chubby face and his endearing attempts to cling to Prince Qing, he seemed quite… well-behaved?

After the commotion of the day, a good meal was certainly in order. Prince Qing nodded in agreement, signaling everyone to join.

Given their large group, their presence was particularly noticeable. Prince Qing decided to let the attendants go on their own, keeping only two for protection.

Since it was past lunchtime, the restaurant was not crowded. When Physician Liu ordered, he asked Suisui what she wanted to eat. Suisui wasn’t sure, feeling much better today, and Physician Liu smiled, advising, “You can have meat, but just a little.”

Suisui understood the need for moderation, as overindulgence would only lead to discomfort. She nodded obediently, “Then let’s have meat.”

Physician Liu couldn’t help but chuckle at her straightforwardness. “Which kind of meat? Pork, chicken, or lamb?”

Suisui looked puzzled. Meat was just meat to her; she didn’t differentiate. She replied, “Just meat!”

Her cute response made Physician Liu smile as he ruffled her slightly tufted head and said, “Alright, then we’ll have meat!”

He ordered some nourishing roast duck and a bowl of steaming meat sauce noodles. The savory meat sauce, mixed with fragrant broth over chewy noodles, made for a delicious and warming meal.

There was a lot of food, and Suisui couldn’t finish it all. Feng Xuanrui, unable to resist the aroma of the noodles, took a small bowl to share. Physician Liu also distributed some to Qing Shan and his brother. The remaining soup was offered to Prince Qing after Physician Liu confirmed that Suisui didn’t want it.

Prince Qing thought, “Well, having some is better than none.”

He ate quickly and roughly, and while Physician Liu was still enjoying his meal slowly, Prince Qing was already halfway through.

Physician Liu, with a doctor's instinct, advised quietly, “Eat slowly. Eating too quickly might upset your stomach.”

Prince Qing waved it off, “I’m used to it.”

Suisui, while focusing on blowing on her noodles, glanced up at Physician Liu discontented expression and noticed his displeasure. Though she didn’t understand it fully, she sensed that Physician Liu didn’t appreciate Prince Qing’s eating habits.

Despite feeling a bit intimidated by Prince Qing, Suisui gathered her courage and said softly, “But we should listen to the Physician.”

Prince Qing and Physician Liu were both taken aback by her earnestness. Physician Liu’s face softened, and he smiled, “Ah, Suisui, you’re such a good child. Grandpa likes you the most. We’ll go buy some sweets later.”

Prince Qing, who had already lifted the soup bowl, hesitated. The bowl suddenly felt too hot to hold. Not knowing whether to drink or set it down, he eventually followed Physician Liu’s example and began sipping slowly with a spoon.

The slow pace of eating was frustrating for Prince Qing, but seeing Suisui’s gaze on him, he softened. He thought, since he was sitting anyway, he might as well take his time.

With Physician Liu’s reminder, the meal was leisurely. After eating, they went for a walk, heading back. When they passed a snack shop, Feng Xuanrui eagerly dragged Suisui along, saying, “Come on, sister, I see a snack shop! There must be delicious treats!”

Suisui followed quickly, her small legs moving fast. Physician Liu hurried to keep up, concerned about losing them in the crowd and encountering any danger.

Prince Qing, with his long legs, had no such worries and quickly entered the shop ahead of the children. The shop was spacious and offered a variety of snacks and treats.

Suisui, who had never been to the town before, was amazed by the sweet scents and the array of pastries. She saw treats she had never encountered before and was excitedly exploring.

There were snacks shaped like lotus flowers, peach blossoms, and others that looked very white. Suisui spotted one she thought she had eaten before and tugged at Feng Xuanrui’s sleeve, whispering, “Brother, we’ve had that before.”

Feng Xuanrui, distracted by the variety, looked in the direction Suisui pointed and recognized it as red date glutinous rice cake. He nodded, “That’s red date glutinous rice cake. It’s sweet and soft but shouldn’t be eaten in excess, as it’s hard to digest.”

He continued pointing out various treats, like the Taishi cake and peach blossom pastries. Feng Xuanrui knew quite a few, and for those he didn’t, he asked Physician Liu.

The shop’s staff, recognizing their high status by their attire, were attentive and provided enthusiastic explanations.

As the number of treats increased, Suisui struggled to remember all the names and descriptions. She recalled the initial red date glutinous rice cake and lost track of the rest.

Feng Xuanrui, however, kept asking questions, ensuring he didn’t miss any details. He held Suisui’s hand firmly, making sure she stayed close.

A little girl who had just entered the shop saw Suisui and couldn’t help but smile at her cuteness. “Whose adorable little one is this? She’s so well-behaved!”
