Chapter 60: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives

Chapter 60: The Smooth Head Feels Nice

Prince Qing was not used to socializing, so he turned to look at Physician Liu. Physician Liu, who had been standing by watching the commotion, was left speechless when he realized Prince Qing was looking at him.

"Why are you looking at me? This is your time to interact, so step up!" Physician Liu sighed and took a couple of steps forward, smiling as he spoke to Nanny Nan. "This young girl looks noble and charming. She must be the daughter of Lord Lian?"

Nanny Nan hadn't expected Physician Liu to recognize them. While the people of Lian’s household didn’t hide their identity in town, it was clear from Suisui and Feng Xuanrui’s accents that they weren't locals. Nanny Nan had assumed they were visitors unfamiliar with Lord Lian. Though she hadn’t planned on revealing their identity to avoid seeming haughty, now that Physician Liu had mentioned it, she didn’t deny it and smiled, responding, "Yes, she’s young and knows little. If we’ve troubled you, please forgive us."

Physician had been observing for a while and could see that the girl had no ill intent—just innocent curiosity. He chuckled, "It’s nothing, kids will be kids. These two are siblings from our household. The young girl had an injury, so we shaved her head."

Shaving one’s head could be a sensitive matter, especially related to personal issues. Nanny Nan hadn’t wanted to pry earlier, but since Physician Liu had brought it up, she kept her response vague to avoid touching on any sore topics.

After a brief exchange between the adults, they were now acquainted. Nanny Nan invited them to join upstairs for some refreshments, offering the privacy of the second floor. Physician Liu checked with Prince Qing, who did not object, so he accepted the invitation.

Lady Lian Ruoyi led Nanny Nan and two maids upstairs. Physician Liu’s group followed suit. The second floor was quiet with individual rooms for guests, and at the moment, they were the only ones there, which reassured Prince Qing. Seeing his surroundings were safe, he relaxed a little.

Nanny Nan, observing all this discreetly, started to have guesses about the identity of Prince Qing and his group.

Now that Physician Liu had accepted the invitation, both Feng Xuanrui and Suisui understood that Lian Ruoyi was not a bad person. Suisui then boldly leaned her head toward Ruoyi and said, "Sister, you can touch my head."

Since Ruoyi looked older than her, Suisui called her "sister" out of respect, following Lele’s teachings that older children should be addressed as brother or sister, and adults as uncle or aunt.

Lian Ruoyi, excited and curious, gently touched Suisui's head. Suisui’s hair had already grown a thin layer, slightly prickly to the touch. Lian Ruoyi found the sensation intriguing, and after touching once, she couldn’t help but touch it again. Each time, her surprise grew as she exclaimed, "Wow, wow, wow!"

Watching this, Feng Xuanrui, who was sitting nearby, started to feel a little jealous. He finally spoke up, "Alright, alright, that's enough."

But seeing that Lian Ruoyi had no intention of stopping, he pulled Suisui back toward him, protective as always. Suisui hadn’t felt any discomfort—just a bit ticklish. When her brother pulled her away, she was confused, looking between Feng Xuanrui and Lian Ruoyi.

Suddenly, Suisui had a revelation and brightly asked, "Brother, do you want to touch it too?"

Without waiting for a response, Suisui leaned her head toward him again, saying, "Brother, you can touch it too."

To Suisui, her shaved head didn’t seem like anything special. But if her brother and sister liked it, she was happy to let them touch it. After all, Lele hadn’t told her that this was inappropriate.

Seeing his little sister being so considerate, Feng Xuanrui couldn’t resist. He had previously avoided touching her shaved head, worried she might feel self-conscious about it. But now, with her head so close, and remembering the amused look on Lian Ruoyi’s face, he hesitated for only a moment before reaching out to touch it himself.

To his surprise, other than the slight prickly sensation, there wasn’t much to it. Confused, he glanced at Lian Ruoyi, his expression seeming to ask, "Is this really that interesting?"

Though he didn't say it aloud, Lian Ruoyi seemed to understand his look. She thought for a moment, then tried to explain, "You don't get it—what others have that you don’t always seems better."

Feng Xuanrui was stunned for a second before blurting out, "Then you can have it too!"

Shaving one’s head wasn’t that difficult, after all. If it weren’t for the fear of his father punishing him when they returned to the capital, Feng Xuanrui might have been tempted to shave his head just to match his sister.

But the thought of his father’s punishment... that wasn’t something he could risk.

Lian Ruoyi, however, took his comment seriously and began to consider it. Nanny Nan, overhearing the conversation while speaking with Physician Liu, panicked. Forgetting her own conversation, she turned around and hastily advised, "Oh no, my dear girl, you cannot shave your head!"

Lian Ruoyi was confused. "Why not?"

Feng Xuanrui was also puzzled, tilting his head in curiosity, and Suisui followed suit, mimicking the gesture. The three children, heads all tilted to one side, looked both funny and endearing.

Physician Liu couldn’t hold back his laughter.

Nanny Nan was at a loss. If Feng Xuanrui had been the only one asking, she could have explained easily. But Suisui—the actual little shaved head—was looking at her too! How could she say anything without hurting the child’s feelings? What if her words made Suisui sad, or even worse, what if she made her cry?

These children clearly came from wealthy, noble families. Nanny Nan didn’t dare say the wrong thing. In the end, she could only smile and say, "You’re still young. For matters like this, you should ask your parents first."

Hearing this, Lian Ruoyi nodded in agreement. "That makes sense."

Feng Xuanrui also nodded, adding, "Yes, otherwise your father might hit you, right?"

After thinking about it, he amended, "Well, maybe he wouldn’t hit you, but he’d probably scold you."

Lian Ruoyi wasn’t afraid of being scolded, but the idea of not being able to shave her head did leave her a little disappointed. She looked at Suisui’s head again and, unable to resist, rubbed it a few more times. "It really feels nice to touch. I like it. I’ll go ask my father if I can shave mine when I get home."
