Chapter 63: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives
Chapter 63: A Little Bit of Good Luck
Physician Liu watched Prince Qing's eating speed and, unable to suppress his habit as a physician, gave a small lecture. Considering the two children needed to sleep, he restrained himself and didn't say much.
Prince Qing couldn’t argue and just listened obediently.
After traveling for half the day and playing for the other half, the two children were exhausted. Before long, Feng Xuanrui, reassured by his little sister's presence, closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep, his soft snores filling the room.
The gentle sounds helped soothe Suisui, and she started to feel sleepy too. However, the system mentioned that she could listen to a bedtime story before sleeping. Suisui thought it would be nice to listen first, then sleep.
When the bedtime storyteller appeared, both Suisui and the system were stunned. The storyteller was a child even younger than Suisui!
The little girl, named July, was only three and a half years old, just starting her first year of preschool. She had no idea how she got to this place, nor did she understand anything about the system or good deeds.
The child seemed bewildered but not afraid of the strange environment. Tilting her head curiously at Suisui’s odd clothing, she softly asked, "Which class are you in?" She then introduced herself. "I’m July from Class 2. Who are you?"
The system was bewildered. What was this? Sending a younger child to tell a bedtime story—was this some kind of joke?
Despite its frustration, the system had no choice but to adapt. Fortunately, July, being used to new experiences, quickly got comfortable. She offered to tell Suisui a story that her teacher had told in school. July proudly raised her hand. "I can do this! I'm amazing!"
The system’s original plan was to have its AI read the story and have July repeat it to Suisui. But as July spoke, it became clear that she struggled with longer, unfamiliar phrases. Eventually, the system gave up and let July do her own thing.
July didn’t mind at all and began talking about her family—how old she was, how many people were in her family, what her parents’ names were, and where they lived.
Then she suddenly suggested, "I’ll teach you a song! We learned it today, and I’m really good at it! Teacher Moon even praised me!"
Suisui didn’t understand much but was impressed by how capable this younger girl seemed. Eager and admiring, Suisui nodded vigorously. "Okay!"
Overjoyed, July began to sing, "On the east is a sheep, on the west is a sheep..." Her childlike voice, with a cute and slightly off-tune melody, carried a warm charm.
Even the system, initially frustrated, found its annoyance fading away as the sweet, innocent voice filled the room. July, determined to involve Suisui, encouraged her to sing along. Although Suisui was initially hesitant, worrying about waking her brother, she soon joined in quietly, swept up in the fun.
The next morning dawned bright and clear. Feng Xuanrui, sitting on his bed, rubbed his face and muttered to himself, "Strange, why did I dream about so many sheep last night?"
Suisui, still groggy, heard his words and immediately felt a pang of guilt, avoiding eye contact.
After Feng Xuanrui washed his face, Suisui cautiously got out of bed, still sneaking glances at her brother. Only when she saw that he didn’t mention the dream again did she finally relax.
Meanwhile, after a long series of emails, the system finally received a response from the main god. The previous night's incident was attributed to a time-space glitch. Originally, it was July’s teacher who was supposed to be summoned as the bedtime storyteller.
July’s preschool had recently experienced a fire due to a safety issue, and her teacher had tragically lost her life saving the children. The system had selected the teacher for her good deeds, offering her the chance to accumulate more merits for a better reincarnation.
However, things went wrong due to a communication breakdown between different departments, and instead of the teacher, July—whose soul had briefly left her body—was mistakenly summoned.
In the end, it wasn’t all bad. July, as the child saved by her teacher, might not understand why her teacher could never return, but some subconscious thoughts remained.
As the system read through the main god’s response, it grew increasingly frustrated. How could it possibly explain all of this—main gods, infinite universes, supernatural worlds—to a five-year-old child?
As compensation for the mishap, the main god granted Suisui a small bonus: a buff called "A Little Bit of Good Luck." Its description was simple: "At some point, your luck will increase by just a tiny bit."
The system was exasperated by this vague reward, but it had no choice but to accept it.
Resigned to its fate, the system repeatedly reminded Suisui, "Today, if you come across something you really want or like, you must go for it!"
Suisui, still confused, nodded obediently. She didn’t know what she wanted or if she even had the courage to ask for anything.
But with the system’s gentle encouragement, Suisui thought to herself, perhaps she could be brave just once?
After breakfast, the county magistrate and Lian Ruoyi visited the inn. Hearing that the pretty lady was here, Suisui temporarily set aside her doubts, happily grabbing Feng Xuanrui’s hand and running outside.
Throughout the morning, Feng Xuanrui noticed his sister’s occasional distracted head-tilting, as if she was pondering something. Before he could ask, her mood suddenly shifted when Lian Ruoyi arrived, and she seemed cheerful again.
Could it be that his sister was so happy just because of Lian Ruoyi’s visit?
The thought made Feng Xuanrui a little jealous. He gently patted Suisui’s freshly treated bald head and said, "Suisui, you have to like your brother the most!"
Suisui, thinking about the delicious snacks from yesterday, turned to her brother and responded sweetly, "I like you the most, brother. I’ve always liked you!"
