Chapter 23: Is Xiao Fu Bao Disliked? The Whole City Loves Me With Their Lives
**Chapter 23: Weaving Beautiful Dreams for You**
Upon hearing the system's reminder, Suisui glanced at her brother.
Feng Xuanrui was already asleep, but due to his fever, his sleep was restless.
Suisui gently held her brother's hand, wishing to give him more strength, while she softly replied to the system.
**[Okay, Lele.]**
She intended to listen to the story carefully and then tell it to her brother!
The system nervously selected today’s bedtime storyteller.
Soon, a young and beautiful lady appeared in Suisui’s mind.
She had a name.
**[Wang Zhenyi]**
Unfortunately, Suisui couldn’t read.
She looked at the elegant and beautiful lady and sweetly greeted her, “Hello, Auntie.”
Wang Zhenyi, still thinking about the system’s perks, looked down upon hearing the childish voice and saw a cute little bald head. She couldn’t help but smile warmly, “Hello, Suisui. I’m Auntie Deqing.”
Suisui greeted back politely, “Hello, Auntie Deqing.”
Such a well-behaved child.
Wang Zhenyi reached out and lightly patted Suisui’s head before beginning to narrate the vast universe and magnificent starry sky.
This was a world even more unfamiliar to Suisui, so unfamiliar that she didn’t understand many of the words Auntie Deqing used.
Nevertheless, Suisui listened attentively and gradually became enchanted.
As she listened, Suisui began to feel sleepy.
Reluctant to miss the story and worried about her brother, she just sat there, nodding off repeatedly.
Physician Liu, observing the situation, couldn’t help but smile.
He attempted to separate the hands of the two children.
However, as soon as he moved, Suisui instinctively tightened her grip on Feng Xuanrui’s hand.
Feng Xuanrui also felt uncomfortable and, in his sleep, grumbled a bit while gripping Suisui’s hand tighter.
Physician Liu sighed, “Alright, I’m the bad guy here!”
Unable to separate the two children, he had no choice but to let them squeeze together for the night.
Diao Jiao quickly fetched a blanket and covered Suisui, trying to arrange them on the bed to minimize any disturbance between them.
In Suisui’s dream, Auntie Deqing looked at her sweet sleeping face and lightly pointed in her direction.
**[I bring the romantic starry sky, weaving beautiful dreams for you.]**
**[Suisui, good night.]**
The next morning, Suisui woke up…
Not from needing to urinate.
But from…
Feng Xuanrui’s leg sprawled across her!
Though Feng Xuanrui was young, his legs were quite thick!
The pressure nearly squeezed the air out of Suisui!
When Qingshan opened his eyes after a brief nap, he saw his young master’s leg firmly across Suisui.
Qingshan hurriedly got up to adjust his young master’s sleeping position and saw Suisui struggling to crawl out from under Feng Xuanrui’s leg.
Once she was free, Suisui gasped for breath, her complexion improving.
Qingshan was startled and asked worriedly, “Suisui, are you okay? Do you need water?”
Mentioning water made Suisui feel the urge to urinate.
She shyly shook her head, pointed to the outside lavatory, quickly put on her clothes, and ran out.
Qingshan was stunned by the girl’s swift reaction, then quickly called out, “Shoes, shoes!”
Suisui was not used to wearing shoes, as she had none before.
Reminded by Qingshan, Suisui awkwardly ran back, put on her shoes, and hurried out again.
As Physician Liu entered, he felt a gust of air brushing past him.
He glanced in the direction Suisui ran and understood the situation.
Shaking his head and smiling, Physician Liu entered the room, asked Qingshan about the situation, and checked Feng Xuanrui’s temperature.
Physician Liu’s slightly cool hand roused Feng Xuanrui from sleep.
The boy sat up abruptly, looking bewildered and squinting, his first words being, “Where’s my sister? Where’s my sister?”
Physician Liu took his arm to check his pulse while reassuring him, “Don’t worry, she’s fine.”
Feng Xuanrui rubbed his face with his free hand, glanced around, and then slowly turned back to his bed with a thud, noticing the intact river lantern.
Physician Liu realized he hadn’t fully woken up yet.
After Suisui returned, she was taken by Diao Jiao to wash up and receive medication before coming back to see Feng Xuanrui.
Feng Xuanrui’s fever had subsided, but he still needed to be monitored for the day to avoid any recurrence.
Once he had rested well, Feng Xuanrui was full of energy.
After breakfast, he began to fidget, “Where’s Uncle Qing Wang? How about Uncle Zhanyuan? Are they still busy? Let’s go release the lanterns tonight!”
Uncle Qing Wang was very busy.
He had come back briefly the previous night to check on things before heading out again and hadn’t returned since.
The resolution of the bandit issue and related matters still required his decision.
Additionally, maintaining law and order within the city of Qingzhou also needed his assistance alongside Governor Sun.
Seeing Feng Xuanrui’s inquiries, Physician Liu couldn’t elaborate and simply shook his head, “His Highness is very busy and likely won’t be able to make it.”
He added some final advice, “The city will probably be chaotic for the next few days. Stay indoors and play in the courtyard.”
Feng Xuanrui pouted, clearly unhappy.
Although disappointed he couldn’t release the lanterns or take his sister to see the excitement, he knew official duties were important.
No lanterns? No lively outings? Feng Xuanrui was still determined to make the best of it!
