PWDLAW Chapter 201: Divorce Matters
Chapter 201: Divorce Matters
Ye Muyu's figure trembled slightly. Suddenly hearing this news, her breathing instinctively paused and she didn't even notice when her fingertips dug into the palm of her hand.
"Is that so?" Ye Muyu asked in response.
She knew that Chu Heng might dislike Ye Yunlan, but she didn't expect him to contemplate divorce directly. Eight years of marriage raising children together, did Chu Heng really have no feelings at all?
Was all the kindness he showed her for some inexplicable compensation or for some other reason?
Ye Muyu felt unhappy and she knew it but she instinctively rejected this inexplicable emotion. Her face quickly regained its calmness.
Seeing her reaction, Cao raised her eyebrows in surprise. "It seems Heng didn't tell you but that's normal. Maybe his heart has changed, so you don't need to think too much about it."
Ye Muyu remained calm, showing no additional reaction to Cao's words.
If she doubted earlier why Cao would reveal this information, now, seeing the fleeting disappointment in the other woman's eyes, she instantly understood. Cao hoped that she would cause a scene.
It made sense. Based on her past temperament, she would undoubtedly have made a big fuss.
However, it is the ancestral sacrifice ceremony today and the ancestral hall was usually only opened on major occasions, such as New Year's Eve and Qingming Festival. If it weren't for Chu Heng being the only scholar in the clan and having contributed to the clan, this matter would not have been so easily agreed upon.
If she made a scene now, the result would be simple. With a few clan members opposing her, along with her previous wrongdoing even if Chu Heng defended her, her name wouldn't be added to the ancestral hall today.
She would lose this honor.
It seemed that Cao didn't want her name written in the ancestral hall.
Ye Muyu thought to herself.
However, the other party's level wasn't high,l and they were constrained by face. They only threw out a big piece of news, unwilling to say anything more. In the end, it made Ye Muyu feel relieved.
Some people might not like her but she wasn't afraid. What she feared was not only being disliked but also being cleverly manipulated by an enemy.
Afterward, Ye Muyu remained silent.
Cao, seeing her composed demeanor, felt anxious, but her status prevented her from saying more.
Finally, she watched Ye Muyu enter the ancestral hall, offer incense, bow three times, and have her surname and name recorded in the family genealogy. Everything was settled.
Cao could only watch helplessly.
Ye Muyu emerged from the ancestral hall, receiving envious glances from a group of married women and unmarried girls.
While in the past, these people envied her status as the wife of a scholar, now they envied her for marrying a satisfactory husband with whom she shared mutual affection.
This wasn't something Ye Muyu guessed but rather overheard from the women in the crowd.
She is surprised. She thought that only modern people pursued love, but it seemed that ancient women were the same, just more subtle.
Returning home, the banquet continued, dishes were served, and the atmosphere became extremely lively.
As family members, they didn't need special hospitality. Ye Muyu and Chu Liushi sat at the main table with other elders from various branches taking their respective positions.
Cao sat in the main hall, next to her was the second wife's daughter-in-law, Sun. On the other side was Chu Liushi's.
Ye Muyu sat beside Chu Liushi, with Ye Pozi on one side. Besides that, there was a vacant seat next to Ye Muyu, occupied by Zheng, Cao's eldest daughter-in-law.
Although Chu An didn't pass the scholar exam, he was also educated and would be the next clan leader in the Chu family.
