The man who came for him was Gong Qiu, the current Assistant Minister of Works.
He told the Meng family that Meng Yunzheng was his child, born from his concubine, Song, who had been with him at the time. They had encountered bandits during a pilgrimage outside the city, and Meng Pei had saved them.
Gong Qiu claimed that Meng Pei, attracted by Song Xin's beauty, had forcibly taken her away against her will and threatened her with the child in her womb to marry him.
He also said that Meng Pei had been unable to have children all these years because Song Xin refused to let him touch her.
The Meng family didn't believe Gong Qiu's words, but they couldn't forget the events from ten years ago, especially Meng Pei's immediate plans to marry Song Xin upon bringing her back and their subsequent trip to the south, which coincidentally aligned with Gong Qiu's claims.
