PWDLAW Chapter 224: Invitation
Chapter 224: Invitation
Manager Xie naturally didn't dare to offend Manager Xie Rong. Hearing his explanation, he quickly steadied himself and respectfully said "Manager Xie, Young Master."
"No need to be so hesitant. If you have something to say, say it," Xie Yu said.
"Young Master, it's like this. The son of the county magistrate came to our Fragrant Pavilion to entertain guests. He ordered the popular sour cabbage fish but we truly don't have any sour cabbage in our restaurant. So, how can we serve sour cabbage fish?"
"Now, we have no choice but to come and ask Young Master. Can the family selling sour cabbage provide some?" Manager Xie pleaded with a mournful face. If he was anxious before, now he was downright uneasy.
Although the county magistrate would give face to the Xie family, they couldn't openly disrespect the magistrate. Besides, Xie Yu had reminded them to build good relationships with the magistrate's people during this period as he had important matters to attend to.
Even when the magistrate's son celebrated his birthday, Young Master had sent more gifts than usual, signaling an attempt to get closer to the magistrate. As a servant, Manager Xie couldn't spoil his master's good deeds.
Hence, the urgency in seeking help.
"Is it the eldest son of the county magistrate?" Xie Yu wasn't particularly interested in sour cabbage fish. After all, there was a jar of sour cabbage at home and he wouldn't deprive himself.
"Yes, Young Master." Manager Xie looked at Xie Yu with hopeful eyes, seeking the clever Third Young Master's advice.
Xie Yu raised an eyebrow, "It's fine. Follow me and later, send some new dishes for sampling. Also inform Master Xu that tomorrow at noon, Fragrant Pavilion will deliver sour cabbage fish to his residence."
"Young Master, about this sour cabbage..." Xie Rong knew that they were collaborating with Chu Heng, a relatively famous scholar in the county. If it were someone else, he would probably think the person was greedy. However, with Chu Heng, Xie Rong had to admit that he was a smart person, perhaps even smarter than their own Young Master. Associating with him was a wise move.
"During the last banquet at Scholar Chu's house, I suddenly had something urgent and couldn't attend. It's a pity. Xie Rong, help me send a greeting card."
"Greeting card...?" Xie Rong hesitated but he didn't refute any decision made by Xie Yu. "Young Master, when should the greeting card be sent to Madam Chu?"
"This afternoon is fine." Xie Yu said with curiosity. He wondered what kind of stunning beauty Madam Chu was to capture Chu Heng's heart.
In fact, Xie Yu was more curious about the countrywoman who could make soft fragrant cakes, come up with the idea for the oven and be involved in sour cabbage fish.
Today, he only needed to clarify the debate topic and he had some time.
"Alright, Young Master." Xie Rong responded respectfully.
Without saying much, Xie Yu went to inspect the oven in the county shop. After instructing the subordinates to send the greeting cards, Xie Rong followed him.
As a result, Ye Muyu received the greeting card and was still a bit puzzled.
She repeated, "This is... a greeting card from Young Master Xie?"
Ye Muyu was thinking that the business of soft fragrant cakes was handled by Chu Heng. As a woman, Young Master Xie wouldn't condescend to visit her just for friendship. After all, their status difference was quite significant. Even the wife of the county magistrate rarely received invitations from the Xie family not to mention a humble scholar's wife.
So, why was this Third Young Master of the Xie family coming to visit? What kind of medicine was he selling in this gourd?
To be honest, Ye Muyu's intuition was accurate. Xie Yu wasn't there to discuss business, he was simply curious about Ye Muyu.
"Madam, yes. Young Master said he regrets not being able to congratulate you in person during the last banquet, so he's making up for it now." the Xie family servant explained, using the carefully crafted words that Xie Yu had instructed.
