Chapter 71: Discussing Matters
Chapter 71: Discussing Matters
Shu Yu was earnestly explaining the situation to the old lady, but she was interrupted when the old lady patted her on the shoulder. "You are still so young, why are you talking about men and women going into the bridal chamber? You shouldn't speak of such things in public."
Shu Yu facepalmed. "Grandma, you misunderstood me."
"Anyway, it may not necessarily be Da Ya's problem," Shu Yu continued, trying to educate the old lady. She didn't want Da Ya to feel isolated and helpless if even her own relatives believed she couldn't conceive.
"Think about Master Yu in the town," Shu Yu whispered in the old lady's ear, "He's been married to many wives for so long but still hasn't fathered a child. Does that mean all of his wives are infertile?"
The old lady was stunned. Could it be that women were not always the ones with fertility problems and men could also be infertile?
Shu Yu added, "If Zhang Shu is willing, they could go to the medical clinic together to check it out."
The old lady shook her head. "That wouldn't work."
Shu Yu didn't say anything more. This was a matter between Zhang Shu and Da Ya, and it might not be appropriate for them to discuss it too much.
Just then, Da Hu and San Ya came in with a few large peaches, and the conversation stopped.
Da Hu handed the peaches to Shu Yu and smiled. "Second sister, eat these. Big sister's peaches are always delicious."
Shu Yu looked at the peaches in her hand. They were big and plump and looked quite good. But how did he know they were delicious before even trying them?
San Ya also handed an apricot to the old lady and whispered, "Grandma, here you go."
The old lady glanced at the little girl. In the past, she would have acted like a mouse meeting a cat when she saw her. How come she had become bolder now?
As she thought about it, San Ya finished giving out the apricots and stepped back to stand next to Shu Yu.
The old lady shook her head and remembered something she wanted to discuss with Er Ya. "Er Ya, let's talk about something."
"What is it, Grandma?" Shu Yu took a bite of the apricot. It was delicious with thin skin and juicy flesh.
"Now that you're back home and reunited with your family, it's a good thing. Why don't we arrange a time for Da Ya and the others to come back home and get to know everyone? We don't need a big gathering, just our own family, your uncle's family, your third uncle's family, and your fourth aunt's family. As for your uncle's in mother's side, let's just pretend they're not related from now on."
Shu Yu had no objections. "That sounds reasonable."
"Alright, we'll wait for your dad to come back before we make arrangements. According to Doctor Xu, your dad will be able to come home and recover in two days. Then, he just needs to go to the hospital regularly for medicine and dressing changes. He doesn't have to stay there."
"Okay, I'll follow Grandma's arrangements."
The old lady smiled so much that the wrinkles around her eyes squished together. She stood up cheerfully. "Great! Rest early tonight, and tomorrow morning, I'll take you to the village head's house. You've been back for a few days and haven't had a chance to meet him yet."
If they were going to live in the village, they needed to know where the village head lived.
After finishing their conversation, the old lady collected the dishes and utensils on the table, and Shu Yu took the basket back to her room.
Unexpectedly, when she came out again, Da Hu was blocking her way.
