Chapter 99: Night Before the Divorce the Villainous Family Can Hear My Thoughts!
Chapter 99: That Woman, Li Qingxuei, is Too Shameless]
“No! Then let’s just get divorced!” Shen Cheng instinctively took a few steps back. “I don’t need your assets.”
[Between money and my life, of course, I’ll choose my life! Besides, I already have more than enough money on hand.]
After saying this, she quickly turned around and dashed out of the study as if fleeing.
Huo Xingjian: “…”
Why didn’t this tactic work? How could money not work on her?
---
Huo Xinglang received a call from Yu Fengcai and finally learned about what had happened earlier that day.
He could hardly believe his ears.
So not only had Wen Yintong sold the villa they lived in, but she had also sold the one she shared with Huo Yunshan.
What was she planning?
“Xinglang, what do we do now?” Yu Fengcai asked.
She had ignored Huo Yunshan’s advice and decided to tell Huo Xinglang about this.
After all, Huo Xinglang also lived in a Bay, and it would be impossible for him not to notice after returning from work.
“We’re now homeless, and I still have to take care of your grandmother in the hospital. Her right leg is fractured, and she has a femoral fracture. The doctor said she’ll need to stay in the hospital for at least a month.”
She then detailed the string of frustrating events that had occurred at the hospital.
Huo Xinglang’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably.
Everything was spiraling out of control, completely deviating from their plans.
“Xinglang, are you listening to me?” Not hearing his response for a while, Yu Fengcai raised her voice slightly.
“I hear you,” Huo Xinglang replied. “For now, focus on taking care of Grandma in the hospital. I’ll contact Dad shortly. Don’t worry, I’ll handle it. I won’t let you and Grandma end up homeless.”
“I know you’re capable of buying a house—that’s nothing to you. But you shouldn’t be the one paying for it!” Yu Fengcai exclaimed urgently. “Listen to me, son. That money needs to come from Wen Yintong.”
“Or even from Huo Xingjian. Your money needs to stay in your hands. This is Wen Yintong’s debt to us. Do you understand?”
“I understand. Don’t worry. I know what to do. Just take care of Grandma for now,” Huo Xinglang reassured her. “Mom, at this point, you absolutely cannot create any tension with Grandma.”
“Now, more than ever, we need to stand united with her. Grandma, as the elder, has the right to question Wen Yintong as her daughter-in-law. But you can’t do that.”
“Mom, do you understand what I mean?”
Yu Fengcai nodded repeatedly. “I know, I know. Don’t worry, I won’t hold you back.”
“Good. Let’s leave it at that for now. Oh, one more thing,” he added as he prepared to hang up, suddenly recalling something. “Did you say Huo Xingjian was also at the Wen household?”
“Yes, but I’m not sure if he’s still there.”
“Got it. That’s all for now.” With that, he hung up the phone.
Leaning back in his chair, he stared silently ahead, lost in thought.
One hand idly played with his phone, while the other tapped rhythmically on the armrest.
After a long pause, he straightened up and made a call. “Hello, about that matter I mentioned earlier—you can go ahead and start.”
After finishing the call, he got up, left his office, and headed to Huo Xingjian’s office.
“Manager Huo, do you need something?” Zhang Hui politely intercepted him.
Huo Xinglang gave a knowing smile. “Is Xingjian in? I have something to discuss with him.”
“Manager Huo, your current project doesn’t require direct contact with President Huo. For work matters, you can coordinate directly with the Engineering Department. If it’s personal…”
Zhang Hui paused briefly and then said calmly, “It’s working hours right now. You’d better wait until after work to contact President Huo. You know how much he dislikes discussing personal matters during work.”
Huo Xinglang was momentarily stunned but quickly nodded. “Alright, I understand. Thanks for the reminder, Special Assistant Zhang. I’ll head back for now.”
“Take care, Manager Huo,” Zhang Hui replied with a professional smile.
As Huo Xinglang turned around, the smile on his face vanished instantly, replaced by a cold, vicious expression.
When the elevator doors opened, he seemed to think of something.
He turned back, putting on a friendly smile once more. “Special Assistant Zhang, why did Xingjian suddenly change offices? Was there something wrong with his old one?”
A thought flickered in his mind, but he couldn’t confirm it.
Zhang Hui maintained his professional demeanor. “I’m not too sure, Manager Huo. I just follow President Huo’s instructions. If you’re curious, you could ask him directly. You two are cousins, after all, and I’m sure he’d explain it to you.”
“Forget it,” Huo Xinglang said dismissively, smirking. “It’s not that important. I’ll ask him another time. I’ll head back to work now.”
“Take care, Manager Huo,” Zhang Hui replied politely.
Why change offices? Of course, because the previous one was utterly defiled!
Damn it.
Those two were really shameless.
The things they did in President Huo’s office—the moves, the positions—were simply unspeakable.
Especially that woman, Li Qingxuei. She always appeared so proper and composed, but deep down, she was utterly debauched and vile.
It was enough to shatter his worldview.
---
Instead of returning to his office, Huo Xinglang left work early.
Once seated in his car, he called Huo Yunshan.
“Hello, Xinglang,” Huo Yunshan answered quickly, sounding a bit fatigued.
“Dad, are you okay? You sound tired,” Huo Xinglang asked with concern.
Huo Yunshan took a deep breath. “I’m fine. Did you need something?”
“Dad, are you worried about the villa Second Aunt sold?”
“You’ve heard?” Huo Yunshan sighed, his tone filled with helplessness and frustration. “I told your mom not to tell you. It’s a trivial matter. You should focus on your work right now.”
“The Rongjingyuan project is critical. You can’t afford to slack off. Only by completing this project successfully will you have the leverage to challenge Huo Xingjian.”
“Once things settle down at home, I’ll introduce you to some influential business leaders.”
“Alright,” Huo Xinglang agreed. “Dad, should I buy a house for Mom and Grandma? We can’t let them be homeless.”
“No need!” Huo Yunshan refused firmly. “If a house needs to be bought, it should be by me. But for now, neither of us needs to do anything. I’ll deal with Wen Yintong. She’s the one who must pay for it!”
“Dad, where are you? Should we meet to discuss this properly?”
“There’s no need. It’s a small matter,” Huo Yunshan replied confidently. “I’m at the office. You focus on your work. I’ll handle this, and it won’t interfere with your job.”
“For the time being, stay at a hotel. Once I’ve resolved this, you can pick Grandma up from the hospital and bring her home.”
He sounded so assured that it left no room for doubt.
“Alright, I’ll follow your lead,” Huo Xinglang replied and hung up.
Starting the car, he prepared to leave when his phone rang again. It was Li Qingxuei.
“What is it?” he answered irritably.
“Xinglang, what do I do? What should I do now?” Li Qingxuei’s panicked and flustered voice came through the line.
