Chapter 89: Night Before the Divorce the Villainous Family Can Hear My Thoughts!
Chapter 89: [A Gentle One at Home, a Flirty One Outside]
The moment the words "little wife" were uttered, Yu Fengcai's face darkened instantly.
The old lady wasn’t faring any better. In a flash, she stormed forward and swung her hand at the man, shouting, “You insolent scoundrel! How dare you spew such filth! I'll teach you to watch your mouth!”
“Stealing from my house? Did you even bother to find out who I am?”
“Now, immediately, return everything to its original place! Or else, see how I deal with you!”
The old lady didn’t hold back at all, raining blows on the man without a care for her own hands. The force, the stance, the sound—none of it resembled that of a frail seventy-something elder. She was every bit like a robust, no-nonsense rural shrew ready to take on the world.
The man, mindful of her age, refrained from retaliating and stood there, taking her hits one after another.
He and his companions knew all too well how these old shrews operated. If you so much as touched her, she’d immediately collapse to the ground, claiming multiple fractures and organ damage, milking you dry until you didn’t even have your underwear left.
That didn’t mean they were going to do nothing, though.
As he endured the blows, one of his companions was busy recording the entire scene on his phone, capturing every angle.
This was their evidence to guard against any tricks the old lady might pull later.
“Enough, ma’am,” a deep voice interrupted.
It was a police officer, and not just one—there were four or five of them.
“Officers, you can vouch for me, right? I’m the victim here. I neither fought back nor argued. Look at my face and neck—they’re injured. I request a medical examination to document my injuries.”
“I suspect I might have internal injuries too. I demand a hospital examination and reserve the right to press charges.”
“Pfft!” The old lady spat at him. “You shameless mutt! Breaking into someone’s house and you still have the nerve to act righteous? You’re going to sue me? I’ll sue you first!”
“This is my home! You barged in without permission and started taking our belongings!”
“Now that the police are here, arrest them! Lock them up! We’ll pursue this to the very end and make sure they rot in jail!”
The old lady spoke with such venom and authority, as if she were the ultimate ruler of the world, dictating life and death.
“Ma’am, you’re being unreasonable. You claim this villa is yours? Do you have any proof? We were hired by the owner to move the furniture. We have a valid purchase agreement.”
“Pfft! Proof? Do I need proof for my own home?” The old lady spat at him again.
“What do you say, Mr. Yunshan?” The man turned to Huo Yunshan. “You’re Mr. Huo’s father. Even if I doubt others, I trust Mr. Huo. Is this villa your family’s?”
“This is…”
“Wait a minute, something’s off!” The man interrupted before Huo Yunshan could finish, his face full of doubt. “This young lady keeps calling you ‘Dad,’ but as far as I know, Miss Huo doesn’t look like this!”
“Miss Huo is stunning! She’s been a little beauty since she was a child, nothing like this sharp-tongued, vulgar, and unrefined person here.”
“Miss Huo resembles Mrs. Huo, exuding elegance and grace in every gesture. But this girl? She’s the very picture of a street shrew.”
“Mr. Yunshan, don’t tell me you’ve gone the way of other wealthy men and kept a mistress outside. Is this girl your illegitimate daughter?”
“You’re the illegitimate child! Your whole family are illegitimate children!” Huo Yuyan cursed through gritted teeth.
The man looked stunned, then grinned. “Miss, how did you know I’m an illegitimate child? Is this a case of sympathy between us, as fellow illegitimate children? But let me tell you, my heartless parents got what they deserved.”
“When I was three, they both died. How? They did immoral things and karma caught up with them. They were struck by lightning while out and about!”
“Even heaven couldn’t tolerate them and dealt with them. So you see, one must live with a clear conscience. Do too many bad things, and it’s not that karma won’t come—it’s just a matter of time.”
“When the time comes, you’ll die miserably!”
Yu Fengcai felt her cheeks twitch uncontrollably.
Naturally, Huo Yunshan wasn’t any better off.
The two exchanged glances, seething with anger.
“You…”
“Mom,” Yu Fengcai stopped the old lady, gesturing for her to stay silent.
The old lady glared viciously at the man but surprisingly said no more.
Huo Yunshan took a deep breath, suppressing his anger, and smiled politely at the man. “And you are…?”
“My surname is Chen. Just call me Old Chen, Yunshan,” the man replied with a cheerful smile.
“Brother Chen, could you explain what’s going on here?” Huo Yunshan offered him a cigarette, maintaining his polite demeanor.
He had realized by now that this group was here with a purpose—most likely targeting Yu Fengcai and Huo Yuyan specifically. He needed to get to the bottom of it.
“This is my sister-in-law’s house, and this is my niece. Her father passed away early, so my wife and I treat her like our own daughter. Sometimes, she jokingly calls me ‘Dad.’”
“My mother and sister-in-law’s family live here. Could it be that you’ve come to the wrong place?”
“Oh, sister-in-law and niece!” Old Chen feigned sudden realization. “My apologies, then. It seems I misunderstood.”
“But a niece is still a niece. Calling someone ‘Dad’ isn’t something to joke about! Yunshan, the difference between ‘Dad’ and ‘Uncle’ is quite significant, you know! Doing this might give people the wrong impression that you’re keeping a mistress outside.”
“You know how men are—I understand! You want a gentle and virtuous one at home and a flirty one outside.”
“That’s nonsense! Nothing like that!” Huo Yunshan struggled to suppress his rage. “Back to the point. Can you tell me exactly what’s going on here?”
“If it’s a misunderstanding, just put everything back in place, and we won’t pursue the matter.”
“A mistake? That can’t be!” Old Chen glanced at his companions. “Where’s the order slip from Sister Jin?”
“Here, here!” One of them pulled a piece of paper from his pocket.
“Look, Xishui Bay, No. 13, right? This is the place, isn’t it?” Old Chen handed the slip to Huo Yunshan.
The address was indeed correct.
“Who’s this Sister Jin? We don’t know her at all. Who is she?” Huo Yunshan asked.
“Sister Jin is the owner of the villa!”
“Impossible! This villa is ours! Our family name is Huo!” Huo Yuyan roared.
“Hey, Sister Jin, did you give me the wrong address?” Old Chen called her directly. “The current owner is back and says Xishui Bay No. 13 isn’t yours. They claim their family name is Huo. Could you come over? I can’t handle this here.”
Twenty minutes later, Sister Jin arrived in a hurry.
“I paid real money for this villa! Which shameless scoundrel dares claim it’s theirs?” An enraged voice boomed as she approached.
