Chapter 1000: Full-level Boss Dressed As a Peasant Girl
Chapter 1000: Sending Xiao Ya'er Home
Ding Yuehua was puzzled. "Has she found her place? Are you just fooling me? Who is it?"
"You don't know him. You'll see when the engagement is announced."
Shu Yu thought that given the current development and the succession of matchmakers coming to their door, the engagement wouldn't be far off.
Ding Yuehua didn't ask further. After all, she wasn't very familiar with Shu Yu's sister.
It was a pity that her cousin would have to find someone else.
Ding Yuehua felt a bit regretful that she couldn't play matchmaker and facilitate a good marriage.
She didn't know if there would be an opportunity for Shu Yu in the future, so she decided to keep an eye out.
Shu Yu didn't mention her own situation. Unlike her elder sister, Ding Yuehua would definitely pry into the details. As for Meng Yunzheng's matter, she couldn't talk about it, so it was better to not bring it up for now. She would find out eventually.
However, she didn't know why Ding Yuehua, who seemed to have the heart of a matchmaker, suddenly had such a keen interest.
Since that day, she couldn't help but inquire about any eligible bachelors she came across.
Fortunately, she believed that her best friend was exceptional and, as a village lord, those people weren't worthy of her. That's why she never brought it up in front of Shu Yu.
The next day, Shu Yu took Xiao Ya'er to the village.
Accompanying them was Ah Ning, who had been taking care of Xiao Ya'er these past few days.
Ah Ning had experienced hardships in the past, so she took extra care of the young girl who was younger than her and had suffered even more.
Xiao Ya'er was a little reluctant to leave Ah Ning behind when she returned to the village. Since Ah Ning had never been to the village, Shu Yu took her along.
The two girls chatted away in the mule cart. Xiao Ya'er had become a bit bolder after spending these days with Ah Ning and would speak up more.
But as the cart got closer to the village, she became more silent, likely thinking about Old Uncle Cui again.
When the cart arrived at the village, Zhou Qiao was doing needlework at the doorstep. There were a few other village women, including Guo Shi, by her side.
Although Zhou Qiao had social anxiety, she felt more at ease here. These people were not familiar with her, especially Da Niu, who was the estate's head and Shu Yu's cousin. The villagers naturally kept their distance from them.
Zhou Qiao liked this kind of distance. They wouldn't ask her difficult and personal questions. Instead, they talked more about the local conditions and interesting stories.
When they saw Shu Yu and the others approaching, Zhou Qiao and the women present stood up.
"Sister-in-law, how is it living here? Are you getting used to it?" Shu Yu got off the cart, followed by Xiao Ya'er and Ah Ning.
Zhou Qiao couldn't help but smile. "I'm getting used to it, it's quite nice here. Come in quickly, I'll pour you some water."
Guo Shi breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Xiao Ya'er safe and sound.
The young girl couldn't wait any longer and ran up to Guo Shi, asking, "Aunt, do you know where my grandpa is? I want to visit him."
Guo Shi looked up at Shu Yu, who nodded. "She wants to see her grandpa. Could you please take her to pay her respects?"
"Alright, sure." Guo Shi immediately took Xiao Ya'er's hand and led her to pay her respects to Old Uncle Cui.
The others went back to their homes. Shu Yu and Ah Ning followed Zhou Qiao into the manor.
All the previous servants had been taken away by Jiang Kuanyu, so there were now two women helping with cleaning and cooking in the village. When Shu Yu entered the house, one of them promptly brought tea.
Shu Yu sat down and took a few sips. Feeling comfortable, she couldn't help but ask, "Where's Big Brother?"
