PWDLAW Chapter 28: I'm in the Wrong, Apologies
Chapter 28: I'm in the Wrong, Apologies
Chu Ziluo escorted Chu Liushi out.
Inside the room, Ye Muyu and Chu Heng locked eyes, engaging in a silent contest.
Chu Heng's face remained cold as he said "What are you pretending in front of Mother again? Be straightforward and everyone will feel more comfortable."
He felt that Ye Muyu making shoes for Chu Ziluo was just a show of face, intentionally done for Chu Liushi and him to witness. He thought of how in his previous life, Ye had deceived him similarly and it made him feel quite annoyed.
He had already lowered his expectations for Ye Muyu. He didn't expect her to become smarter he just hoped she would be obedient, communicate openly, and avoid making foolish mistakes that could harm others and bring trouble to the entire family.
She only needed to be obedient. Regarding food and clothing, he never treated her unfairly. Wasn't that enough?
Why did she insist on acting on her own?
Chu Heng's entire brow furrowed and his voice became even colder. "Regarding the matter with Tang Rou today, you were absolutely not going to bring her home. What were you thinking?"
Feeling guilty for mishandling today's situation, Ye Muyu listened silently. She didn't argue because she knew she was in the wrong. She didn't blame Chu Heng for scolding her as her actions might affect his reputation.
"Sorry, there won't be a next time." Ye Muyu apologized.
Sensing a slight reduction in his anger, Ye Muyu's attitude helped Chu Heng calm down a bit. "You understand, that's good. In the futur when I'm not at home, if you don't understand something, ask Mother. Don't act on your own."
Ye Muyu had originally planned to visit the old house frequently after this incident considering the two children were there. She didn't want rumors of her being divorced again spreading.
She could accept separation but divorce was a different matter. Divorcing would severely impact her reputation.
"Okay."
Ye Muyu responded resolutely thinking that Chu Heng's words meant she didn't need to find an excuse to visit the old house anymore.
Noticing her good mood, Chu Heng felt a bit frustrated but decided not to dwell on it for now.
Before leaving, Chu Heng deliberately snorted and looking at the half-finished shoes in Ye Muyu's hands, said "Stop making them. No matter how you pretend, I won't believe you."
Ye Muyu, refusing to show any weakness this time, responded without apologizing "Oh, I'm making these shoes for Ziluo."
Chu Heng, on his way out heard Ye Muyu's words and stumbled. Because of her words, he was instantly infuriated. Did Ye just say he was delusional?
Ye Muyu saw that Chu Heng had left in a bad mood but she was not affected.
It was still early and she continued to focus on making the shoes.
After a while, Chu Ziluo also came in and sat beside her, helping her make shoes.
"Mother, do I have to go to Granny's house?" Perhaps because Ye Muyu had been very gentle all day, Chu Ziluo gathered the courage to ask.
Ye Muyu reached out and patted her head. "Yes, you must go."
She didn't want the two children to know about the conflict between her and Chu Heng. Ye Muyu said "After you go, remember to learn etiquette from your grandmother. You will need it when you grow up."
"Mother, I understand. Don't worry I will study diligently." Chu Ziluo replied earnestly clenching her fist.
Ye Muyu felt that the original children were actually good kids. For example, Ziluo, who had been mistreated before still knew how to be filial. She was better than most children.
As for her son, Chu Jin, his personality was obvious. He loved money but didn't have any major flaws in other aspects. At least, Chu Heng's casual words could easily manage him and save the situation.
