Chapter 187: Seven Candied Hawthorns
Chapter 187: Seven Candied Hawthorns
Doctor Xu resisted the urge to roll his eyes and pointed at her impulsiveness with his finger. "I knew it, you're definitely going off on a tangent again." Shu Yu defended herself, "Doctor Xu, don't misunderstand me. I haven't even stated my request yet." "Then go ahead and say it." "This is what I'm thinking. As for the prescription, I can sell it to you at a lower price. But..." Before Doctor Xu's eyes could light up, Shu Yu quickly added a twist, "Every time a bottle of this scar-removing ointment is sold, give me half of the profit. How about that?" Half of the profit wasn't much. Considering Doctor Xu's charging standards, he would probably price the scar-removing ointment at a minimum of ten or twenty taels. Asking for half meant it would be merely five or ten taels. It was already a small amount. Shu Yu's main intention was to have another pathway for her own family. The store hadn't yet taken off, and she didn't know what the future held. She needed to leave herself a way out with the Lu family. Doctor Xu was taken aback and started pondering in his mind. The cost of this scar-removing ointment wasn't high. Last time he saw the herbs Shu Yu had collected, they didn't require particularly precious ingredients. His profit margin would still be substantial, even with the half share... Although it stung a bit, it wasn't unworkable. "Half share it is then. So, how much are you selling this prescription for?" "One hundred and fifty taels," Shu Yu clicked her tongue, "What do you think? It's cheap, right?" Lu Erbai, who had been listening on the side, murmured, "... Is it really cheap?" Doctor Xu believed it was within his acceptable range, considering his clinic had always charged high fees. Moreover, this scar-removing ointment could be sold in the provincial capital and the imperial capital in the future, with prices several times higher. For those wealthy households, this was a rare and valuable item. Initially, he had expected a price of over three hundred taels, but now that it was slashed in half, he was still quite happy about it. "Alright, I'll get you the money." Lu Erbai stared blankly at Doctor Xu's departing figure and couldn't help but sigh, "Dr. Xu is truly a decisive and efficient person." They didn't even bargain over the price. Shu Yu drank a cup of tea, confirming that today was truly a lucky day. However, she had already spent most of her original silver, and now she replenished it. Doctor Xu quickly took out a silver ticket, and Shu Yu wrote the prescription in front of him. The transaction between the two parties was very pleasant. Shu Yu happily received the silver ticket in her hand and said, "I rely on Doctor Xu for a prosperous business so that I can also get my share." Doctor Xu snorted lightly, "You're opening tomorrow, so I wish you a successful grand opening and many customers." "Thank you." Shu Yu helped Lu Erbai onto the mule cart again, but this time she didn't get on herself. Instead, she walked slowly while leading the donkey. Passing by the hawker selling sugar-coated haws, she casually bought seven strings of them and gave one string to San Ya. She let Lu Erbai hold the rest, planning to share one string each when they got home. San Ya looked at the sugar-coated haw in her hand, her eyes shining brightly. "Sister, sugar-coated haws, I've never had them before." Every time third Aunt came to the county, she would bring back a string of sugar-coated haws for Da Bao. Da Bao was really annoying, he would deliberately come in front of her and her brother, enjoying a bite in front of them. San Ya would always run away, but when no one was around, she would lick her lips and imagine herself eating the sugar-coated haws—sour and sweet, like a delicious treat. Today, she finally got to eat them. Lu Erbai looked at his little daughter and felt a bit sour in his heart. Seven strings of sugar-coated haws, it was obvious that Shu Yu had bought a string for each person. Lu Erbai took out his own string and said, "San Ya likes them, so I'll give this string to you and Da Hu to share." (End of this chapter)
Man that's fucking sad bro, cmon author you can't just attack us like that.
ReplyDeleteDamn straight up 50%? hahaha damn that's quite a bit but sure I guess, though that's quite short sighteded there doctor.
But then again not really, this is ancient china and it'll be hard to replicate the formula, also its really not all that silver and he already knows that he can sell it highly, plus with most businesses staying in the family and him being the owner as long as something happened to Shu Yu the deal would be off anyways and he'll keep that recipe in his family forever.
Also now that San Ya said that I really hope fucking annoying third uncle doesn't show up.
