Chapter 165: Going Together
Chapter 165: Going Together
As soon as the man finished speaking, in the next instant, the hand holding the dagger suddenly felt a sharp pain. The dagger fell to the ground with a "clang," and then his thumb was forcefully bent outward, as if it was about to break.
The girl in his arms took a step back, kicked him hard in the groin, and when he was in excruciating pain, she grabbed his arm and threw him over her shoulder.
"Ah..." The man let out a miserable scream and fell to the ground, unable to get up.
Meng Yunzheng smiled and walked forward, knocking the man unconscious with a palm strike.
Then he stood up and made a thumbs-up gesture to Shu Yu.
Shu Yu smiled and tidied her hair. "He deserved it for thinking he could use me as a hostage. Oh, by the way, how is Doctor Zhao?"
Meng Yunzheng shook his head, indicating that he was fine.
Only then did Shu Yu breathe a sigh of relief and asked, "Who are these two people? Do they have a grudge against you?"
Meng Yunzheng didn't answer. He first went to get two ropes and handed one to her.
Shu Yu immediately skillfully tied up one of them, and then she helped Meng Yunzheng bring in the still unconscious Doctor Zhao.
Doctor Zhao had injuries on his hands and feet, probably because the two criminals were afraid he would escape, so they stabbed him several times, and the blood on the ground was from those wounds.
The bleeding had stopped by now, but the wounds still looked shocking.
Meng Yunzheng skillfully found some healing ointment, and Shu Yu helped by bringing in some water. Together, they treated Doctor Zhao's wounds and bandaged them. Only then did they come out of the room.
Meng Yunzheng cleaned his hands and sat down at the opposite table, starting to write.
The first line of words was the answer to her question, "These two people are the fugitives currently being pursued by the county government. The man who held you hostage is the eldest son of the former county magistrate."
Shu Yu looked over at the man who had been knocked unconscious and realized that the person the county government was looking for was right here.
"How did they find their way to your house? It seems like they know you?" Shu Yu asked, her eyes widened.
Meng Yunzheng nodded without denying it.
"Sorry for getting you involved. They thought that by finding me, they could escape," he wrote.
Shu Yu quickly waved her hand, "That's not true. You've helped me several times, and I rarely get a chance to repay the favor." In fact, she thought that these two people seeking Meng Yunzheng's help might actually have a chance to escape.
"By the way, do these two need to be taken to the county government?" Shu Yu asked again.
Meng Yunzheng nodded again.
Shu Yu stood up. "Then I won't bother you. You can take them there, and I'll go find my cat."
As soon as she finished speaking, the lucky cat that had run away earlier came back and meowed at her.
Shu Yu pointed at it from a distance. "I almost thought you were going to become a stray cat again."
The lucky cat was still a bit far from her, showing a hesitant and fearful expression.
Shu Yu was about to walk over when she saw a few more words written on the paper in front of her: "Let's go together."
She looked at Meng Yunzheng in astonishment. "Are you saying that you want me to accompany you in taking these two people to the county government?"
Seeing him nod, Shu Yu furrowed her brows tightly, but after a moment, she shook her head with a smile. "No, thanks."
Although she said so, she was still somewhat regretful in her heart. After all, it was a rare opportunity to have dealings with the authorities. In the future, when she opened her own shop, it might be convenient to have connections with them.
Unfortunately, she still had concerns about her own identity.
However, Meng Yunzheng seemed to be able to sense her thoughts. He wrote, "Are you afraid that others will know you're the third Miss of the Shu family?"
Shu Yu was surprised and looked up, only to see Meng Yunzheng smiling and shaking his head at her.
