PWDLAW Chapter 82: Night Talk

 Chapter 82: Night Talk

At least Chu Xing would inform Chu Heng about the need to repair the courtyard walls. However, what surprised Ye Muyu was that Chu Heng had returned and it was already so late. "Wait, how did you get in?" Ye Muyu sat up abruptly, furrowing her brows thinking about checking the situation outside the courtyard walls. Chu Heng cleared his throat and said, "You don't need to go. I jumped over the wall by stepping on the mule cart." "After you set up those broken pieces of porcelain even if you use a mule cart, it would be difficult to get over here." Chu Heng's explanation finally eased Ye Muyu's concerns. "So... are we going to sleep?" Ye Muyu tentatively asked. Chu Heng glanced at her and after a while responded with a cold "hm." Ye Muyu lay on the bed, tightly holding the blanket, lying flat with her eyes closed. After a while there was no movement beside her. Unable to resist, she opened her eyes and took a peek. In the moonlight, Chu Heng not knowing if he was watching her or pretending to be asleep, caught her gaze. She quickly closed her eyes, deciding not to bother anymore. She thought she wouldn't be able to sleep but perhaps due to exhaustion from the day she fell asleep without realizing it. Dim daylight penetrated the room. Ye Muyu touched her forehead, opened her eyes, recalled the events of the previous night and quickly sat up. "Chu Heng?" she called. No one responded. Ye Muyu quickly put on her shoes and as it was becoming brighter outside, the courtyard was empty with no signs of anyone in the other rooms. "Chu Heng?" Ye Muyu searched the entire house and couldn't find him, confirming that he had left. At the courtyard gate she looked at the clear mule footprints outside, finally confirming that Chu Heng had indeed come back. "He left so fast." Ye Muyu smiled "Well, I don't need to send you messages in the future. With Ah Xing around is there anything you wouldn't know?" Ye Muyu raised an eyebrow, feeling that although Chu Heng had a bad temper, he at least cared about the family which was forgivable. The next morning, as soon as Ye Muyu finished cooking breakfast, Chu An and the others arrived. "Younger sister, we've come to work." Chu An greeted. Ye Muyu quickly welcomed them, "Big brother, second cousin, Maogen, Yongliang, why are you here so early? Have you eaten? I just finished making breakfast. Do you want to eat a bit before starting work?" "Sister-in-law, no need. We've all eaten before coming. I'll go work now." Although Chu Yongliang was tempted by the dishes Ye Muyu made, he had already been bribed with yesterday's lunch. He thought he should eat a bit less today. "Younger sister, if you have something to do, go ahead. Don't worry about us." Chu An smiled. Seeing this, Ye Muyu returned to the house, bringing out a pot of sweet soup she had cooked. "Then, have some sweet soup. There's tea here, pour it yourselves." After saying this, Ye Muyu went back to the kitchen. Chu Yongliang heard that it was sweet soup and wasn't interested, but he was curious about the novelty Ye Muyu might have cooked. He took a few steps forward, poured some and took a sip. His eyes instantly lit up "This seems to be rice wine. It's not too alcoholic. So, this is the taste when sugar is added to rice wine. It's delicious and you won't get drunk." "Second cousin, Lin Ge, brothers, try some." Chu An quickly walked over, patting Chu Yongliang's head "You're about to get married and you're still so childish. How can you take advantage of everything?" "Second cousin, I just wanted to taste it. You know, Sister-in-law makes excellent things. I just wanted to try something new." Chu Yongliang touched his head, saying timidly.
