Suppressing the urge to laugh uproariously, Luo Liyan carefully placed the package from her back onto the ground.

"I bought you a new set of clothes. We can change when your wounds heal. But your inner garments should be changed after applying the medicine as the wounds need to breathe."

Weichi Che silently watched as she laid out various items in front of him, then asked "How did you have the money to buy so many things?"

He had been in this place for several months, and a woman even one of the highest quality wouldn't cost more than a few dozen taels of silver. The courtesans on this street didn't earn more than 50 taels of silver at most.

Yet the woman in front of him was wearing a silk skirt that was probably worth over ten taels of silver. How could she have such nice clothing on her? Normally only the top courtesans in a brothel could afford such attire. Moreover, she even had silver to buy other things.

Weichi Che's question left Luo Liyan sweating and feeling uneasy. She lowered her long eyelashes to hide the panic in her eyes.

However, he also feared that his dark suspicions might make his only source of warmth and care, this big sister, angry and disappointed.

What if she left him behind and abandoned him?

Weichi Che suddenly regretted asking that question. Whether she was one of those perverted women or not as long as she continued to show him care and affection, he would be willing to endure anything, even if she abandoned him the next moment.

"Hey, why are you crying?" Luo Liyan noticed the glistening tears in Weichi Che's eyes and reached out to wipe them away. However, if she were truly able to leave, he didn't want her to return just for him.

Weichi Che was torn his gaze locked on Luo Liyan who was preparing to leave.

Another day would be enough to let him rest and recover. He would be able to leave with her.

Luo Liyan wiped the sweat from her brow finally finishing tending to Weichi Che's body and his wounds. Then she begrudgingly dressed him in his clothes.

After feeding him two more pieces of pastry and some water, she hid the remaining pastries and tea in a thick pile of straw.

"If you can move, you can help yourself to the water and food inside. But to ensure my safety, be careful when you're alone and don't let anyone find you. I've prepared these for you. Otherwise, I might end up waiting in vain." she whispered to him.

"I'll be okay, Big Sister."

Weichi Che blinked his eyes vigorously and only then did Luo Liyan feel assured enough to leave.

Watching the door being gently closed and locked, Weichi Che felt an overwhelming sense of attachment. But as a powerless child he could only wait for the return of his 'big sister.'

After about half an hour as the sky gradually brightened, Weichi Che was sure that Luo Liyan had successfully escaped from the brothel. He then closed his eyes to rest.

Now he had to focus on recuperating so that he wouldn't become a burden to her. He needed to regain his strength quickly and escape from this place with her.

During his nap, Weichi Che's sleep was fragmented. He would wake up countless times, believing that everything he had experienced the night before was nothing more than a dream.

However, thanks to his remarkable recovery ability within just a few hours, he was able to sit up on his own.

After finishing the pastries and water from the teapot, he held the teapot tightly in his arms and stared at the wooden door.

He didn't know how long he had been sitting like that but Luo Liyan finally appeared in the woodshed carrying a large package.

"Sister you're finally back."

Weichi Che's childlike and hoarse voice took Luo Liyan by surprise. She patted her chest in amazement and looked at Weichi Che, who was now sitting up and watching her.

"You've recovered so quickly?"

Luo Liyan was astonished but then realized that his swift recovery had likely saved him from death numerous times. She had specifically arranged for the last time she rescued him to be the third time he was tortured nearly to death creating some initial aversion toward her.

After experiencing utter despair she knew he would develop deeper feelings for her once she saved him from the brink of death again.

With this in mind she realized that she was indeed quite clever.
