Jiang Chenchen could only carry Xia Changli and run until they reached the main road, where there were more cars.

She had never felt so anxious before, with the painful sound of breathing behind her ears.

Unable to find a taxi, she reached out to hail other cars.

In the dark night, other cars sped by without stopping. In the urgency of the situation, she stood in front of a passing car. The driver slammed the brakes, narrowly avoiding a collision.

The person in the car was startled and stuck their head out to curse. Jiang Chenchen, carrying Xia Changli, approached and grabbed the person's collar. "Help, go to the hospital."

In this situation, she surprisingly found it easy to speak to someone.

They got into the car, and the driver rushed them to the nearest hospital.

Xia Changli had acute appendicitis, and she underwent surgery immediately.

She waited by Xia Changli's hospital bed and finally relaxed when she saw the person calm down.

Although she was very tired, she couldn't fall asleep.

It was almost dawn before she reluctantly lay on the bed for a short rest.

Xia Changli wasn't a crybaby, but she couldn't help but cry. She looked at Jiang Chenchen and felt that meeting such a good friend in her life was the luckiest thing.

When a nurse came in for rounds, Jiang Chenchen heard the noise and woke up. She saw Xia Changli wiping away tears with her head lowered.

Looking at her red eyes, Xia Changli said, "Chenchen, thank you. I'm much better now. Go back and get some sleep. Staying up all night is hard on your body."

The auntie next to the bedside, a family member of another patient who had an extra bed at night, said, "Don't worry, girl. I'll keep an eye on things here. Go get some sleep and come back later."

Xia Changli had a minimally invasive surgery, and she could be discharged the next day.

After some consideration, Jiang Chenchen nodded. "If anything happens, call me."

She went home, took a shower, changed her clothes, and then went out.

When she arrived at the Huan Yu Group, she didn't see Gu Mingmei. Instead, she was received by another person, Duan Wangfang, the manager of the artist management department. They had a detailed discussion about the romance variety show, including the relevant details and remuneration.

The romance variety show was a production of their company, and it would be directly broadcast on their affiliated video platform.

The pay for one episode wasn't very high, considering they were amateurs. However, after signing the contract and the first episode aired, the company would help her sign an advertisement, which brought in more money.

The program would take two days to record, with a total of eight episodes.

The first episode was scheduled to be recorded at the beginning of the month in a warm coastal area in the south.

Jiang Chenchen signed the contract.

Manager Duan was very happy, shook hands with her, and expressed that it would be a pleasant cooperation. Although this girl didn't talk much, her appearance was their signature. President Gu really had a good eye!

Jiang Chenchen looked at the extended hand and thought for a moment before shaking it.

It was almost noon when she left the company. In a hurry, she rushed to the hospital.

Running back and forth, she almost fell asleep on the bus and, from morning until noon, she hadn't eaten anything. She was starting to feel unbearable hunger.

After getting off the bus, she leaned against a signpost and closed her eyes for a moment to recover.

Someone approached and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
