Chapter 1090: The Disgust of the Yao Family
The Yao siblings were still in shock when Uncle Feng entered the mansion.
Madam Yao was talking to her daughter-in-law, Kang shi, when she furrowed her brows upon hearing Uncle Feng's report.
Initially, they didn't pay much attention to who came to visit Yao Residence. After all, since Yao Tianqin became an Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Works, people came to visit him one after another. To avoid trouble, they often made excuses not to receive guests.
When Uncle Feng mentioned that the visitor brought gifts, they thought it was the same as before, so they didn't show much surprise.
However, when Uncle Feng mentioned that the young lady had encountered Madam Jing, the wife of Assistant Minister Jing of the Ministry of Justice, and was taken away by her, both Madam Yao and Kang Shi displayed a moment of astonishment.
"So, you mean the young lady knows Madam Jing?" Yao Madam asked.
"Yes," Uncle Feng confirmed.
The mother and daughter-in-law exchanged glances. Madam Yao thought for a moment and asked Uncle Feng to describe the young lady's appearance. Perhaps they knew her.
However, Uncle Feng had only seen Ying Xi, who had come to the gate when Shu Yu was standing a bit further away from him. Additionally, Yao sibling's fast appearance obstructed much of his view, so he hadn't observed Shu Yu closely.
Uncle Feng could only describe Ying Xi appearance, but Madam Yao and Kang shi didn't know Ying Xi and couldn't confirm if they knew the young lady.
After a while, Madam Yao told Uncle Feng, "Be more attentive next time. If the young lady comes again, inform us directly."
Unfortunately, Uncle Feng didn't have the chance to ask the young lady's identity.
After Uncle Feng left, Kang Shi couldn't help but speak up, "Do these two siblings really treat this place as their own home? They are guests themselves, yet they dare to make decisions on behalf of the host? If they offend people because of this, it will be our fault."
She frowned in disgust, "Mother, when are they leaving?"
Madam Yao also wanted them to leave as soon as possible, but she couldn't say it outright due to face. Their Yao family had only recently regained Yao Tianqin's official position. If they were to drive away their own cousin, they might be exposed to criticism.
She could only rub her temples and tell Kang, "Let's wait a bit longer."
Kang Shi sighed and brought up the young lady again, "Mother, why don't we send someone to wait outside the Jing Residence? If the young lady comes out, we can see who she is and find out why she's looking for Father."
This idea seemed reasonable, so Madam Yao sent a maid to the Jing Residence to keep an eye on the situation.
Meanwhile, Shu Yu, accompanied by Chang Shi, had already returned to the Jing Residence.
As soon as they entered the courtyard, a girl around twelve or thirteen years old came over and greeted Chang Shi softly, "Mother."
Chang Shi smiled and introduced her, "This is Miss Lu, who came from Dong'an Prefecture."
Then, she pointed at the girl and said to Shu Yu, "This is my eldest daughter, Zhi Shan. Shan, address Miss Lu as your sister."
After they exchanged greetings, Zhi Shan excused herself to the kitchen, "Mother, I'll go give some instructions to the kitchen. Sister Lu, please don't be shy and stay for lunch. We mustn't treat our guests poorly."
Chang Shi waved her hand with a smile, "Go ahead."
Zhi Shan curtsied slightly and left the scene.
Chang Shi was a concubine who became minister Jing's second wife, and they had been married for only seven years. The eldest daughter, Zhi Shan, was obviously the daughter of the former wife. Despite this, her relationship with Chang Shi was good, and their interactions displayed familiarity and affection.
