▶▶THE WOODEN BEAUTY OF YOUNG MASTER SHENGChapter 16: You, Just a Little Bit
The man lay limp on the ground, gasping for breath, as if he had just returned from the brink of death. Glancing at the girl beside him, acting like a lunatic, he dared not stay any longer. He quickly got up and crawled away. Sheng Mingsi held Jiang Chenchen's hand and got into the car. "I'll take you home." Seeing him holding her hand, Jiang Chenchen noticed his long, pale fingers, cold to the touch. Thinking of his recent statement about being afraid of the cold, she reached out with her other hand and held his. As Sheng Mingsi got into the car, he paused, turning to look at her with cold and indifferent eyes. "My hand is warm," Jiang Chenchen said. "..." "No need." He withdrew his hand from hers. "Get in." If it weren't for the fact that her thought process seemed different and genuinely pure, he would have asked her to leave like he did with those other women. Jiang Chenchen looked at the empty hand for a moment, then got in. Seated, she took the handbag from her wrist and pulled out another ice cream, starting to eat it unabashedly. Sheng Mingsi glanced at her and said to the driver in front, "Drive." The driver, Wu Bi, quickly started the car. He had seen the whole scene and marveled at Sheng Mingsi's patience with this unique, somewhat crazy girl. He had never heard Sheng Mingsi soften his voice like that. He was nearly jaw-dropped. This girl was indeed unique, truly a bit crazy! She had asked Sheng Mingsi for ice cream the first time she met him in the psychiatric hospital, and now, trouble had ensued over an ice cream again. Most importantly, Sheng Mingsi had made a promise to her. This incident needed time for Wu Bi to digest. "Where does this girl live?" Wu Bi asked. Sheng Mingsi looked at Jiang Chenchen. "Do you remember where you live?" Jiang Chenchen stopped eating her ice cream, lowered her head, and muttered, "I don't have a home." Sheng Mingsi's gaze darkened slightly. After a pause, he continued, "Then where does your uncle live?" "Not there anymore." "What? So where do you live?" "At Uncle Li's house." Sheng Mingsi frowned, seeming to guess. "The big guy's house from today?" "Yeah, I bought ice cream for him." Jiang Chenchen took out the other box of ice cream from the bag. Sheng Mingsi lowered his voice, and his eyes deepened. "Do you know what this means?" She shook her head. "I didn't think about it." "Do you like their house? That big guy." "I only like Mom and Dad." Jiang Chenchen tightened her grip on the ice cream, and when she spoke, there was a glint of light in her vacant eyes. "You, just a little bit." She looked at him. Sheng Mingsi, "..." His brow twitched, shifting his gaze away from her, looking out the window. His voice came low and deep. "Perhaps you don't understand the treachery of human hearts, but remember, if you don't like it, run away. Don't become someone else's tool." Jiang Chencheng asked, "Where can I go?" The world is vast, but she hasn't had a home since she was six. She lives only because her parents want her to. The car was still moving. But Wu Bi didn't know where to go. There was a silent atmosphere in the car. The heater was melting the ice cream in her hands little by little. Jiang Chencheng held the box, looking at Sheng Mingsi, a hint of anxiety in her voice, "Have we arrived?" "It's melting." Sheng Mingsi, looking out the window, turned his gaze back, and his eyes dimmed. The long eyelashes cast a shadow over a large area. In those eyes, there was an emotional struggle. After a moment, he raised his head and spoke in a cold tone, "Wu Bi, drive the car back home."
