There were only two elderly scholars in the county's school who could teach the Four Books. Another one was a neighboring village's Huang Xiucai, who like Chu Heng, planned to continue taking the imperial examination. However, he had a motherly wife with a less attractive appearance.

After considering all options only Chu Heng and those young scholars seemed suitable.

Although there were some under twenty years old scholars like Chu Heng who ranked first in the annual examinations, were considered the most likely to pass the imperial examination. Even if Chu Heng didn't pass the imperial examination, Tang Xueren believed that it was only a matter of time as long as he continued participating.

So, he agreed to Tang Rou's desire to marry Chu Heng.

Of course, she had to be the legal wife.

This matter was challenging to plan. As an elder, Tang Xueren certainly couldn't do it himself. Therefore, he let his wife, Tang Wangshi, and Tang Rou handle it. Even if something went wrong he wouldn't lose face.
