Chapter 565: She Wants to Stay in the Right Room

The Shu family members were all lying on the ground, unable to get up. Although they had experienced imprisonment and exile before, and had suffered a lot, they had never been physically beaten like this.

Now, they were in pain all over their bodies, unable to even stand up.

Shu Yu looked down at them and said, "Can I go back to my room now?"

The Shu family members looked up at her in astonishment, especially the eldest Miss, who was full of shock. "You, you know martial arts?"

Shu Yu rubbed her wrist and replied, "I wouldn't call it martial arts, but I have some self-defense skills. Let's just say that I have more than enough to deal with all of you. Speaking of which, I have to thank Aunt Xue."

She glanced at the woman lying on the ground. "If it weren't for your mistreatment of me since I was young, I wouldn't have secretly trained to keep myself strong in order to survive."

Well, she found a perfect excuse for her skills, conveniently shifting the blame to Aunt Xue.

Aunt Xue couldn't believe it. "So, all those times you appeared weak in front of us were just an act?"

They had all believed that Shu Yu was weak and helpless. Even though she had managed to survive on the road to exile because of her luck and the money she had, they never thought that the eight of them would be unable to deal with three seemingly weak women.

But the reality was that Shu Yu alone, with just one hand, had made everyone suffer greatly.

The Shu family members couldn't accept this result, and they even glared at Aunt Xue with resentment.

Aunt Xue had her own grievances. How could she have known that instead of killing that wretched child, she had inadvertently nurtured her into someone as tenacious as a weed?

Shu Yu sneered and walked inside, stepping over the fallen bodies.

Hou Shi and Sixth Miss hurriedly followed her.

The Shu family members gritted their teeth but dared not get up to stop them. They knew that even if they resisted, they would only end up being beaten.

Shu Yu entered the room on the right and took a closer look.

Earlier, she had only glanced briefly and then walked out. Now, upon closer inspection, she realized that the room was quite spacious.

There was no bed in the room, only a large pallet made of wooden planks against the inner wall. It was similar to the pallet they had slept on at the inn, where six or seven people could sleep side by side.

There was a set of bedding on the pallet, which had been brought by the maidservants who accompanied them. Of course, it came with a price, which they currently owed.

The bedding was not spread out yet, but even from a distance, Shu Yu could tell that it was thin and not very substantial.

It was already October, and the temperature difference in Linzhang Prefecture was significant. It could freeze a person to death at night, and this bedding... wouldn't be of much use.

Fortunately, along with the bedding, there were a few sets of clothes, which they would need to wear when they started working tomorrow. They would have a uniform attire. At night, they could cover the bedding with these clothes to provide some additional insulation.

Other than that, there was a wardrobe and two wooden chests in the room, none of which were particularly large and were even somewhat worn out.

And that was it. There were no other belongings in the room.

Shu Yu sighed inwardly. It really felt like going back to square one,

having to start earning everything again.

Hou Shi closed the door behind her and walked up to Shu Yu with joy. "Third Miss, you're amazing. I thought we were going to be at a disadvantage today."

Sixth Miss looked at Shu Yu with even greater admiration.
