Chapter 544: Carrying Her in His Arms
Chapter 544: Carrying Her in His Arms
As the sound grew closer, Shu Yu tilted her head back and raised her voice, "I'm here..."
She felt a slight pain in her chest when she exerted herself.
When she rolled down earlier, she must have bumped into something, and now she felt a twinge of pain.
Fortunately, Meng Yunzheng had keen senses and quickly heard her. He immediately looked down towards her.
Seeing the faint figure below, he finally felt relieved. "Stay where you are, I'll come down immediately."
Shu Yu watched as he ran down from above and soon stood in front of her.
After he stopped, he hurriedly examined her up and down. "Are you alright? Where are you injured?"
Shu Yu pointed to her right hand. "Everything else is fine, but it seems like my hand is dislocated."
Meng Yunzheng frowned. "Let me take a look."
Being familiar with situations like a dislocated arm, and with Zhao Xi, a highly skilled doctor, always around, Meng Yunzheng was confident in treating common injuries.
He reached out and gently felt her right arm for a moment. "It's not too serious, luckily."
Perhaps Shu Yu had taken precautions when she fell, so her injuries weren't too severe.
Meng Yunzheng knew how to reset a joint.
He took out the keychain hanging from his waist. "Let me unlock your handcuffs first, then I'll reset your arm. After that, be careful and take good care of yourself."
"Okay."
Meng Yunzheng unlocked the handcuffs on her wrists before firmly grabbing her right arm. Before Shu Yu could react, he had already reset it, swiftly and painlessly.
After resetting it, Meng Yunzheng found two twigs and untied the curtain that had been wrapped around her head, tearing it into several strips and using them to secure her right hand.
He then used the remaining curtain as a makeshift sling, hanging it around her neck to immobilize her arm.
Fortunately, Shu Yu had torn off plenty of curtain when she covered her head earlier, which proved to be enough.
Given the limited resources, this was the best they could do for now.
Meng Yunzheng clapped his hands together. "Let's go, we should leave this forest first."
"Okay."
Meng Yunzheng crouched down again, using the key to unlock the shackles on her feet.
As he crouched down, he noticed that she had numerous wounds on her legs. Though they were not sprained or dislocated like her hand, they were caused by sharp rocks and branches, resulting in several cuts.
Previously, due to the reddish-brown color of her prison uniform, which was almost identical to blood, it was impossible to notice.
Now that they were closer, Meng Yunzheng saw that her uniform was stained with quite a bit of blood.
After removing the shackles, Meng Yunzheng stood up abruptly and asked, "Do you have any other injuries on your body?"
Shu Yu remained silent for a moment, then shook her head. She did feel the wounds on her back and waist when she rolled down earlier, caused by sharp rocks and branches. They were probably not too serious.
"Don't worry. They're just minor wounds. If I were seriously injured, could I stand here and talk to you so calmly? Let's go, we need to get out of here first."
As she spoke, she started walking towards the slope.
But just as she took a step, Meng Yunzheng immediately picked her up in his arms.
"You..."
"How can you walk like this? I'll carry you up." Meng Yunzheng's face was tense, his brows furrowed tightly, but his steps became faster and faster.
Shu Yu pressed her lips together and remained silent.
